    1. [PABUTLER] Grave Markers
    2. Mark Hunkele
    3. I recently visited St. Peter Cemetery in Butler looking for the grave of my ancestor Conrad Hunkele/Hungley who died in 1865. I was not successful because many of the grave markers for that period are damaged or unreadable and the custodian had no record of his grave even though the Pittsburgh Diocese records show him as buried from this parish. I did notice that there are some graves from this time that are marked with an iron cross that has two horizontal members - one that is flat and perpindicular to the vertical member as in a regular cross and one below it that is at an angle to the vertical member. Does anyone know why these crosses were made like this?
