Rider, aged 86, died at his home in Center Township at noon yesterday following an illness of six months. Mr. Rider had spent his entire life in Center Township and was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel B. Rider. He was a farmer by occupation and was active in community affairs. Surviving are five sons, Homer C., of Butler; Elmer T. of Queens Junction, PA; Orvan J.(sic, Oran) of Grove City, PA; Lamont E. of Unontown, PA; and Alvin L. at home: five granddaughters: a grandson: two great granddaughters and a sister, Mrs. Carrie Allen of Evans City. Mr. Rider was a member of the Rider Lutheran church, Center Township. Funeral services from the family residence at 2:30 o'clock Friday afternoon with the Rev. Albert E. Speck, pastor of the Rider Lutheran church and the Springdale Lutheran church, officiating. Burial in Rose Hill cemetery. (BUTLER EAGLE, Sept 24, 1941) Mrs. Emmaline Rider, wife of Orestes C. Rider, of Center township, died yesterday after a brief illness. She was 67 yrs old, and a daughter of the late Philip Sanderson, of Queens Junction. She is survived by seven brothers and two sisters; one grandson; five granddaughters, and the following children; Miss Celie and Alvin L. at home, Homer C. of Butler, Elmer T. of Queens Junction, Oran J. of Panloe, and Lamont E. of Brownsville (Fayette Co., PA). Mrs. Rider was a member of the Rider Lutheran church. Funeral servies at the home at 2 pm on Thursday, with interment in Rose Hill Cemetery.
