I was researching a Graham connection. I found a reference that Daniel Graham son of Alexander Graham and Elizabeth Rainey as it says in the text "Daniel who died at Wilmington, North Carolina, through long confinement at Libby and Andersonville prisons". Daniel served in the 11th PA Res Inf (40 PA Vols). I also know he was at Gettysburg. I was so intrigued. I wanted to know if any one could confirm this. I would love know when he died and at which prison. Thank you in advance Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Shauna, Send me a copy. We are working on a centennial project for the Meridian UP church and it may be helpful. Ed emonnie@zoominternet.net [1] On Thu 07/ 8/10 10:23 PM , Shaun Martin shaunmartin11@gmail.com sent: I just came into possession of a photo of the Meridian School Picnic, dated May 28, 1913. There are perhaps 100-120 people of all ages, but mostly small children to teenagers, lined up in class picture style. Faces are clearly identifiable, but I have no idea who is in the photo. I suspect that the Barickman family that lived in Meridian at that time is in the group since the photo came to me by way of a descendant of the Barickman's. I remember some Grabigels who lived on the flat in Brackenridge, I know there was a girl a few years older than I named Pat. Any relation to you? My dad Herbert N. Rahner and his Uncle Newton Goldinger owned a camp in Foxburg. Frankie Grimm, wife and kids came up a couple times. I only remember the boys up there once but remember Ruth Ann was there a few times. The lot that the Grimms owned was next to our lot. My uncle bought it so no one else would buy and build on it. My brother is now the owner of the camp plus that lot and he has both up for sale. My brother is the only Rahner left and he had 2 boys, one married and divorced and 1 married with one child, a girl so far no one to carry on the Rahner name. My husband and I had 2 boys, and we have 1 nephew to carry on the McClure name. Both of our boys have girls, with no more expected, and our nephew is not married so looks like the end of the M! cClure name also. I know nothing about the Goldinger's. My grandmother Pearl Goldinger Rahner had two brothers, Newton and Andrew and one sister, Emma. I know their father was named Samuel Melvin Goldinger and he passed away when they were very young. They were placed in the Odd Fellows Childrens Home until their mother Ida married a Stepp. I don't know anything about the Stepp's either. I would be most grateful for any information you could send me. I lived in Brackenridge until 1960, got married in 1963 and moved to Huntsville, Al. and been here ever since. My dad was Herbert Newton Rahner, son of Pearl Goldinger Rahner and Henry Rahner (son of Sophie & Max) Max and my grandfather both passed before I was born. But as a child I remember going to visit Sophie (we called her grandmother Rahner). At that time she lived on 2nd Av. I remember her as a very large lady but then I was small and maybe she just seemed big. I was only 12 years old when she passed away so I don't remember much and at that time wasn't much interested in family history and now there is no one left to ask. I too was baptized, confirmed, and married in the First Congregational Church. Sophie and Max actually had two boys, Herbert G. Rahner 1883 and Henry Fred Rahner 1890-1940. He married Pearl Goldinger Rahner and they had one son my father Herbert Newton Rahner 1914-1981. I remember meeting lots of peop! le at Grandmother Rahners but I don't know who they were or how they were related. I know we use to attend the Rahner reunion that was held in Fawn Twp. and there were some Grimm's that attended but I never put that all together at the time. I do remember a Frankie Grimm that came to our house a few times and owned a piece of property in Foxburg, Pa. that he sold to my great uncle Newton Harvey Goldinger. I remember he had a daughter about my age but I can't remember her name. I also think he had 2 boys that were older than me. I was born in 1942. Now where do you live and how are you related to Sophie Grimm. I just started this search so I know very little. I appreciate any information you can share to help me figure all this out. Thanks so much for your reply and I'm looking forward to hearing from you again. Regards, Darlene Rahner McClure Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. The 2010 Romberger All-Family Reunion is set for Saturday, August 21. As before, it will be at the beautiful Hill Church in Berrysburg PA where many Romberger forebears rest. This year we celebrate 257 years of Rombergers in the U.S.! The Rombergers are a well-documented family, and this year's reunion will have two historians in attendance- the past historian, Dr. John Romberger and the new one, Bob Averell. This is a wonderful opportunity to explore your own roots and ensure you're linked too. Folks are asked to bring a covered dish if possible, and if not, not to worry, there's always plenty of food. It's a beautiful place, and an occasion for fine fellowship, conversation, viewing displays, and walking the cemetery. Also, there's a lot to do in the area so you can make a weekend of it if you choose. Contact Frank Herzel today for an information packet at fherzel@aol.com or at (717) 545-6964. Whether you go this year or not, it will get you on the mailing list for updates and future invitations. This is a rare chance to have the benefit of people who truly know the family, so take a minute and get in touch. Hope to see you there!
