Michelle - just a thought. I have a ton of Goehrings buried at "New Sewickley Twp. - Burry's." Not quite sure what that means but wondered if it was a clue towards your Burry search. [Albert researchers may find this old news article on the Alberts and Adam Albert's will was of great interest. The scribe's comment at the end of the will is informative, too. This isn't a direct quote, but near, so, here goes. G.} "Prospect News, Prospect, Sept. 4, Made When Jefferson Was President We are requested to have published the following for the benefit of the Alberts and their descendants in Butler County: I, Adam Albert, of Frederick County, State of Virginia, taking into consideration my approaching dissolution, do make, constitute, and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following, that is to say: First, I will and ordain that all my just debts be paid out of my estate by my, hereafter, named executors, as soon as possible, after my death. Secondly, I give and bequeath to my beloved wife, Clara, my negro woman, Pegg, during her natural lifetime, I further will and ordain that my said wife, children, George, Adam, Betsey, Polly, Sally, Susannah and Catherine, do each receive an equal division out of money's arising from the sales of my estate, both real and personal, except, as above first excepted to my wife during her natural life and in case any of my children die without heirs in their minority or intestate, then in that case, my will is that an equal division be made, of the estate of such deceased one, among the surviving heirs without exception; and if any money, or other property shall, hereafter, fall to me from the estate of Henry Shepler, deceased, or from his surviving widow, my will is that it be wholly converted to the use of my daughter, Betsey, and her heirs. I, further direct that my freehold and leasehold estate be sold by my executors as followeth, viz: on a credit of one year for the first payment, and of two years from the day of sale for the second payment, the whole to be paid in two equal payments. I, also, authorize my executors to negotiate and deal with James Chambers of the state of Kentucky for the redemption of a certain tract of land in that state, now in possession of said Chambers, which tract of land has been sold for taxes and is offered for redemption; and if redeemed, to be sold of, by them as directed, and lastly, I nominate, constitute, and appoint my beloved son, George Albert, and my trusty friends, Donnie Lynn and John Fry, to be executors of my last will and testament, hereby revoking and utterly (disallowing ?) all other wills, grants and demises by me, heretofore made. Signed and sealed in the presence of the following witnesses, William Bond, Joseph Wood, and John Wright, this fifth day of May, A.D., one thousand eight-hundred and seven. Scribe's Comment: The will is recorded in the proper office at Winchester, Va., in book 8, page 357. Adam Albert and his first father-in-law, Captain Henry Shepler, served in the Revolutionary War, and were living in Berks County, Pa., at that time, hence their descendants could be members of the "DAR" and "SAR." Adam and his first wife, Elizabeth Shepler, moved from Pennsylvania to Winchester about 1781, where George, Adam, and Betsey, children of this union, were born. Adam's second wife was Clara, (the surname is not known) and she was the mother of the other heirs mentioned. Adam, the heir mentioned, married Margaret Schreck, and moved to Butler County, and settled near Prospect, about 1807, or likely a short time after his father's death. This Adam (1783-1851) was the father of the Butler County Alberts. He and his wife are lying in the Lutheran graveyard here, awaiting the "call." They had eight sons and four daughters, a hardy set of children. The last remaining son, Andrew Albert, died in (__?___). Seven grandchildren still live, Jacob Albert, Ora Albert Quigley, Emma Albert Keck, of Butler; Ellen Albert Blinn, Anna Albert Campbell and List Albert of Prospect, and Warren Albert of Woodlawn. Those interested will cut this out and paste it in their Bible where they can see it often." [Isn't that a precious article, and what a lot of genealogy to find, too? -G.]
First I want to thank everyone for their help. I think we have it as St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Butler For the Burry's Some of you on the list have been kind enough to find some names for me there. As for Renno. Is anyone out there working on this family? This is a line that marries into Burry. I am looking for anyone with a Adam Renno. He married Margaret Burry. In Margaret's mothers will (Catharine Burry) , Catherine goes out of her way in everyway, shape and possibility that Adam is not to get her daughter, Margaret's inheritance money. Was hoping maybe someone knows something about this line. I wonder what he did? I still have the partial listing for St. Paul's in Zelienople, Butler Co., PA . I have some deaths, Baptisms and marriages. Anyone interested I will email the entire listing I have, which I cross referenced by surname. It is done in Microsoft word. Thanks, Michelle
Hi Joan, I see from the local history books that before the North Butler Presbyterian Church organized in 1848, folks met for worship in Fergus Hutchison home. I do have a copy of a Hutchison Family Tree. It must have taken a long time to do it. It's hand done and quite unique. The North Butler Presbyterian Church was called "an infant" of the Concord Presbyterian Church. There is a wonderful old newspaper article where the other churches celebrate with their "mother," the Concord Presbyterian Church. My Cumberland great, great grandparents are buried at Concord, as are my great grandparents, my grandparents and my father and sister, among many numerous uncles, aunts and cousins. The majority resting there are related in some way. Getting back to North Butler Presbyterian Church, my great grandmother, Eleanor, was a daughter of John Beatty. One can see from her pictures what an attractive woman she was. She was the youngest daughter of a large family. I think she may have been a bit "spoiled," too. The reason is, one of my uncles said she insisted her husband, Great Grandfather John Cumberland take her home for church at North Butler. Now, on occasion, that would be nice, but think how long it would take traveling two ways with horse and buggy every Sunday. It's such a short distance today by car. It would seem likely they'd attend Concord in bad weather. My great grandfather carried bricks from his father's farm and barefoot, too, when the present Concord Presbyterian Church was built. Those bricks were fired by the Kinzer brothers on the James Cumberland farm. Uncle Paul laughed when he showed me the cornerstone of Concord. He thought perhaps the Kinzer, that put it in, may have had "one too many." It's upside down. I'd like to hear more about he North Butler Presbyterian Church that my Great, Great Beatty Grandparents attended. G. G.
I also am up for helping to type in information if you still need persons for that...and it is possible to do it from Central Wisconsin....Just give a holler!!! Appreciate all your efforts!!! Joan, For over thirty years I've researched the Campbell families of Butler Co., PA, among other lines. The Hutchisons come into those lines several time, so, many that are kin. I also am a member of CCFHA. Some Hutchison descendants are members, too. I've promised a Hutchison cousin to see if more information could be found on her grandfather, Attorney James W. Hutchison. He was born in 1864 and became the husband of Ida May Campbell in 1889. Glee
Dear Kim, Thank You sooooo much. For your time and energy! I will contact her! Best Wishes, Michelle
Hello. The family lived in Butler Borough. That was all the will said was German Lutheran Church in Butler. I did find the undertaker is M.A. Berkimer he established the undertaking business at 251 South Main street, Butler, under the firm name of Berkimer & Taylor Florist was Anton Kent? Monument was from J.?. Walters Carriages for funeral by A??? ? Fratcher? These names are from the Estate papers of Catherine Burry. Those are the only clues I have at this time. Maybe I should order a death certificate for her being she died in 1909 there might be one. With all the arraignments being in Butler she must be there somewhere at least I would think. Ok..back to the drawing board! Thank You Michelle

Once in a while a gem will be found in the O. C. records. I was led to the orphan court records when researching my ancestor, John Beatty's estate at the Butler courthouse. A descendant of John's from Fayette Co., PA petitioned the court to have his estate settled. It had been going unsettled for some years and John had died 7 January 1844. John's wife, Nancy's date was unknown. The records were quite hard to read. Amazingly, with the help of a magnifying glass, the date of death for Nancy was found in those O. C. records. At the time, John's tombstone stood and was legible to read in the North Butler Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Nancy's stone wasn't legible. For a long time it leaned in two pieces against the church. One day, some time ago, it wasn't there. We were told it was now part of the foundation under a shed nearby. Can you imagine the excitement to find Nancy's death date, 8 December 1862, in those O. C. records. Once in a long while I've found they aren't boring. G.
Granny - I have been reading your messages for some time now and it appears you have been in the Butler area for quite a while -am I correct??? My interest was particularly peaked when you mentioned John and Nancy Beatty's being buried at the North Butler Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Are you by any chance related to any of the Hutchinson family who originally owned the property where the Church and cemetery are??? They were my ancestors and I am continuously researching them.
