    3. Debby, I have a correction on one of your Riders. The child you have listed below as "Henry Snyder Rider (1846-1926) was actually Henry SILAS Rider. His wife was Susannah E. Crawford, b. in Butler Co. in 1851. In most census records he is enumerated as Henry S. Rider, but in 1880 he was listed as Silas H. Rider. 2. Debby
    3. Hello Jinny Good to hear from you. Unfortunately for you, yes, I do have 30 plus pages which is all I have so far on the Rider branch in Butler county. I say "unfortunate" because it is still too disorganized to send - some is not typed yet. So for starters, I'll send you one page. Keep bugging me. It might be the incentive to get me to be more diligent????? But, first, I'm finishing up a Riffle Genealogy that is ready to index. Do you still live in Butler county ? If you do, I got the entire Fleeger line from a book in the Butler library. So you could add that section easily enough with a trip to the library. And yes, send along the will; I can abstract what I need. I can't place William Coulter; would love to know where he fits. And need anything else you or the list can find. Thx to all. 2. Pat
    3. Diane, The Butler Citizen was the main paper in the year 1914, although there are some early Butler Eagles on microfilm. You may email Luanne at the library and ask for your lookup. There is no charge for that, but a copy of the obit will cost you a quarter per page and the cost of postage. Pat

    1. Re: [PABUTLER-L] Butler Eagle
    2. The Butler Public Library's genealogy department will look up obits for a donation. They prefer requests of no more than three at a time. Then another request can be made. One can look them up themselves, usually, for a quarter, unless it is a long obituary. It might take two, or more, quarters depending on prominence, length, or layout in the newspaper. An obit may be at the bottom of one column and continued at the top of the next column, or even continued to another page. That would entail zeroxing at least twice. In these cases the obit can be carefully cut out and put together to look like one. Scotch has a reuseable glue that is great. If you have a page of obits, one can be lifted and placed elsewhere, but only with "reuseable glue."

    3. I live in Florida but would be glad to support the project. If the group decides to put out a newsletter, I would be glad to write for it. 3. Was just reading the e-mail listing Young's Funeral home and thought it might be worth sharing a great resource. Contact any funeral home and ask if they will let you have an old copy of their "National Yellow Book for Funeral Directors". It lists all of the funeral homes that are in the U.S., complete with addresses and telephone numbers. I have a copy and have found it very useful ... especially as the old funeral homes are usually still carried under their original family names even if they are under new ownership.
