I just found that my gggrandmother, Margaret McGowan is buried in Grove cemetery. She lived in Beaver Co. vicinity of New Sewickley. Researching I copied this page on cemeteries in a book while researching in Salt Lake City FHC. . "OAK GROVE/WAGONER CEMETERY New Sweickley Twp., Beaver Co. Pa. by Mark H. Welchley The following list of tombstone inscriptions was taken from the files of the Resource and Research Center and was originally done in 1936 by Martin Langnecker, Sarsfield & Saul. This cemetery is near Big Knob in New Sewickley Twp., and should not be confused with the larger Oak Grove Cemetery just outside of Freedom or with Oak Grove Cemetery in Industry Twp. Church affiliation of Oak Grove/Wagoner is not certain. There appears to be an association between Oak Grove/Wagoner Cemetery and Oak Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church as will be confirmed by the membership list in the following article." then follows the list of names Only took copy of this first page, oh how I wished I would have copied all of the pages. I will check the churches in New Sewickley Township --- that seems to be the best route at this point. This list has been very helpful and I appreciate it! Cindy

    2. In a message dated 7/31/02 10:14:16 AM Eastern Daylight Time, sweeze@zoominternet.net writes: > Can you tell me more aboutthis Krohn's cemetery? Hi Pat --- Thanks for your help with the estate records :) Here is the situation with "Krohn's": I have been looking for this cemetery for almost 2 days now and after I posted, decided to do more searching, particularly in Beaver County since the family once lived in that county. GGG-Grandpa's obituary states that he ''has been a citizen of Cranberry for many years...." ... so I was assuming both "Oak Grove Lutheran" (the church) and "Krohn's" were in Butler County at the very least, if not in Cranberry itself. Among other things, I had checked other Beaver County sites earlier without luck but thanks to the Beaver County link at your own site, I was able to quickly find a cemetery called "Crone's Cemetery" --- actually, the proper name is "Crone's German Lutheran Cemetery" (both are used). From what I was able to find out, it is a very, very, very small cemetery, but apparently it is still in operation. I have a call in now to the cemetery and I am waiting to hear back from them. The spellings seem so divergent that I am not 100% certain I have the right cemetery ---- surely there couldn't be two of them! but one never knows. I am hoping that if 'Crone's' is not the one for which I am looking, that they can direct me to "Krohn's", and hopefully Oak Grove Lutheran Church --- perhaps this church is/was in Beaver County as well: I could not find this church at the same Beaver County web site, however. I am sure it merged somewhere along the line, or merely ceased to exist, and I may just try checking with the Lutheran Archives & present day churches in both counties at this point. At any rate, I will surely let you know if a "Krohn's" (and/or "Oak Grove" for that matter) turns out to be in Butler. Thanks again for your help and I will be in touch! Cindy

    2. Pat
    3. Cindy, All of the estate records are now on microfilm in the library or on microfiche at the courthouse. We are currently working on a complete listing of cemeteries in Butler county. Can you tell me more aboutthis Krohn's cemetery? Perhaps I could identify for you. We currently have identified 193 cemeteries that have been in existence through the years. They too are listed at www.rootsweb.com/~pabutle2. Pat "Volunteer of Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness at http://www.raogk.org/"

I see my ggg-grandfather is listed --- Could someone tell me where in Butler would I go to check the actual estate record in person? Also, would anyone happen to have the phone number for the Butler Public Library --- a librarian there may be able to tell me the current status/rough history of Krohn's cemetery... It certainly doesn't seem to be in existence anymore or doesn't seem to be very well known; maybe a librarian will have some knowledge of this cemetery. Thanks! Cindy

    3. Beth, The estate records index for Butler county is online at www.rootsweb.com/~pabutle2. This index starts at the year 1800 and should be complete through 1910. Some letters of the alphabet contain estates as late as 1932. All estates indexed at that site are on microfilm at the Butler Public Library. There is a link on the Index page for the Estates to the genealogy department at the library to request copies of the estate papers. 2. Shari, I do not have this line on computer. I'd worked on it for my mother-in-law in the early 1970s The line begins with Peter Kamerer (1787-1860) and his wife Elizabeth Bush, then through their son, Daniel L. Kamerer and his wife, Anna Harriet (Daubenspeck) Kamerer. The next descent is through Daniel and Anna H's son, Adam Kamerer, and his wife, Julia A. Hepler. Julia's parents were Isaac and Elizabeth Hepler. Adam and Julia's daughter, Mary Lauretta Kamerer married Braden Garvin. Braden was a son of Benjamin and Nancy "Ellen" (Vandivort) Garvin and grandson of David and Permelia (Mallison) Garvin. The lines continue to descend into McKnight and Bauer, which ascend into Smith, Doer Osborne and Copeland. It was nice of you to offer your gedcom. It would be nice to receive it. Perhaps I can add info and return it to you. Glee

    3. Rick et al, I can provide some info on the ancestry of Sylvester Lackey (Daniel and Anna Harriet (Daubenspeck) Kamerer's son Samuel's daughter Ethel Kamerers husband). I would also like to know which Lackey married Agatha Kamerer. One more thing. Is there a GEDCOM of this Barnhart, Bauer, Daubenspeck, Garvin, Hepler, Kamerer and Vandivort relation available. In my Lackey GEDCOM I have some of these names and feel like there are probably other relationships here that i can learn. If anyone is interested in my GEDCOM please contact me and i'll send it to you (sharonbruce38@hotmail.com). thanks to all, Shari >From: GrannyGlee@aol.com >Reply-To: PABUTLER-L@rootsweb.com >To: PABUTLER-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: Re: [PABUTLER-L] Re: John BYERS >Date: Mon, 29 Jul 2002 21:26:50 EDT > >Rick and Jim, >Some German lines that intermarried include Barnhart, Bauer, Daubenspeck, >Garvin, Hepler, Kamerer and Vandivort. > >George (1745-1807) and Barbara (Geiger) DaubenspeckSr., a son, Phillip who >married Mary J. 2. Carol, I will forward your request. As stated she and I share a Beatty line. She descends from the fifth child and I from the eleventh child of John and Nancy Beatty. Her ancestor, Elizabeth born in 1811, married John Thorn, son of Joseph Thorn and Mary "Polly" McGinnis. The McGinnis is the line she is now working on. She had ignored the spelling, McKinnis, but found documents with the spelling both ways. She will be happy to hear about another McGinnis researcher. Glee
