Does anyone know anything about the parentage and family, etc., of William John Campbell (1801-1865)? He married Mary Magee (1796-1864), granddaughter of Patrick and Jane Hall Magee. William was the father of Margaret Campbell who married Robert Glenn. I am also interested in the McClymonds/Campbell/Glenn connections. I would like to talk to anyone who is also interested. Please e-mail me personally to discuss. I do not have much on the McClymonds family, I have some on the James Campbell family and descendants. I have nothing on the Glenn family other than a Glenn taking guardianship of one of Garret Campbell's children. Does the butler county library have a copy of The Magee Family History book? To all interested persons, both those that have responded and those thinking about doing so, the first meeting to organize this society will be held Jan 7, 2003 at the Meridian UP Church. They were kind enough to offer a room until Library renovations are thru. (Actually being a member helped a lot.) The actual room we use will depend on the number attending. If you have not replied before it will help if you do so. Those that need directions also request directions. Those that are familiar with area, go to back door (off parking lot) Time 7:00 PM or there abouts. Girl Scouts are meeting that night, but will cause no problem. This will give us an idea as to the interest in such a group. Bring along all your ideas, wishes and desires for the direction of said society. This group will in no way be in competition with the excellent Genealogy Room at the Butler Library, but will be an arm and helpmate for same. Ed Monnie

According to the information I have on the Magee family (of which Margaret Campbell is descended), JASPER GLENN was born about 1855 and died in childhood. Homer Glenn (according to my information) was the grandson of John Newell Glenn (1822-1899) and Martha Campbell (1825-1899), who was the daughter of William Campbell and Mary Magee (also the parents of Margaret). They had Jasper Campbell Glenn (1858-1937) who married Susanna Williamson and had Ella E., Homer L., and Florence. Homer and Fern had the following children: Gladys Albert (1907-1909) Helen Viola (1909-1912) Harold William (1912-1938--he was the other twin) Howard Campbell (1912-1992) Wilmer Lavern (1917-1999) John Robert (b. 1921) Norman Dale (1923-1924) Howard and Bernice had the following children: H. Elton (b. 1940) Arthur Wilmer (b. 1941) Dale Lester (b. 1942) Robert Paul (b. 1945) Harold Wayne (b. 1946) Herber Francis (b. 1946--they were twins also) Gary Lee (b. 1948) Karen Lucille (b. 1953) Wilmer Lavern married Elba Reynolds (b.1919) and had: Bonita Kay (b.1948) Betsy Lynette (b. 1953) John Robert married Elizabeth Baker (b. 1917) and had: John Howard (b. 1947) Margaret (b. 1948) Elizabet (b. 1953) David Bruce (b. 1955) Ella E. Glenn (1886-1981) married J(ohn). Miller Reichert (1881-1972) and had: Anna Lucille (b. 1928) who married William John Christian and had: William John (b. 1957) Julie Lucille (b. 1958) Edward Winthrop (b. 1962) Emily Ella (b. 1964) Florence Glenn (1893-1973) married George Dickey and had: Betty Jean (b. 1921) Anna Belle (b. 1919) who married James L. Wood (b. 1924) and had: Susan Kay (b. 1952) Linda Ruth (b. 1955) ----- Original Message ----- From: "PAULA" <VERNE@pghmail.com> To: <PABUTLER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, December 05, 2002 12:36 PM Subject: [PABUTLER-L] JASPER GLENN > Does anyone have more information on this JASPER GLENN? > > Robert Glenn b. 9-7-1828 married Margaret Campbell b. 4-6-1831 > They had a son: > JASPER GLENN (That's all I have on him, except he had at least one son) > Son of Jasper Glenn was > HOMER L. Glee and list, Well, now I'm really confused. According to information I've gleaned from other people researching the Glenn family, the patriarch John Glenn (1741-1819/20) was born in Ulster, Ireland and married first to someone named Anne and their offspring were indeed the "Kentucky Glenns." Then, John married Mary Diven (1741/51-1820), daughter of Alexander and Margaret (Smith) Diven. Together, they had the following children: Jane (1770-1830) who married Thomas McClymonds Robert (1773-1833) married Martha Borland, daughter of John Bor(e)land and Catherine Montgomery Elizabeth (b. 1774) married James Glenn Mary Ann (1775-1833) married ? Montgomery James (1777/78-1848) married Mary/Margaret Borland, sister of Martha Nancy married Henry Mowms Joseph (1787-1852) married Mary Thompson John, Jr. (1794-1864) married Eleanor Newell, Hannah McClymonds, and Catherine McPherson Alexander I noticed that I had several names similar, but belonging to different generations than what I had. Does anyone know where MARY DIVEN fits in??? Does anyone know the parentage of John Glenn, Sr? One source had it listed as James Glenn, spouse unknown; another had it as Thomas Glenn and Christiana Wilson. Glee, interesting that Toots had information on the parents Susan Christy, who married Archibald Glenn, son of Robert Glenn. I had thus far been unable to find out anything else on her. Christi

Ken, There are a few pages of notes labeled: McClymonds Family Lineage, pages 93-100. They must be from another family tree, possibly the Robert Allen Sr. Family. After studying all this new information here is my conclusion on the 1850 Census for Muddy Creek: #94. Glenn, John age 56 Hannah age 50 Mary Jane Campbell age 14 This John Glenn age 56 (born abt 1794) is the son of ROBERT GLENN and MARTHA BORLAND Hannah age 50, is ELIZABETH HANNAH UNKNOWN (born abt 1800), second wife of John Glenn. His first wife was ELEANOR NEWELL. Still haven't identified Mary Jane Campbell. #95. GLENN, J. N. age 28 Sarah age 28 John W. age 2 James M. age 1/12 This J. N. Glenn is JOHN NEWELL GLENN age 28 (born abt 1822), son of JOHN L. GLENN (#94) and his first wife, ELEANOR NEWELL. SARAH age 28, is SARAH MCCLYMONDS (born abt 1822), d/o JAMES MCCLYMONDS and his wife JANE CORNELIUS. Thanks for your help. Does this agree with everybody? Paula
I just noticed that you referred to the MCCLYMONDS Family History. Where can that be found? I'm very interested to look at that if possible. That's my line but I'm not aware of any family history published or available. I'd appreciate it if you'd let me know where to find it. I've accumulated quite a bit of information on the MCCLYMONDS and do show some marriages to the GLENN'S. Ken McClymonds

Hi! Lewis W. J. CAMPBELL married 2nd my grandaunt, Ella Mae FRITZ. Ella never had any children. My dad took movies on their front porch when I was little. By the looks of the ages of my sister and I, it was probably about 1942. That would be the year my grandmother (Ella's sister) died. I've often wondered what the "W.J" stood for. What is the source "William"? I'll type his obituary to the list. Ella was born 14 Nov 1879, Petrolia, Butler Co., PA, the daughter of Francis Marion FRITZ and Susan A. (Susanna) BARRICKMAN. She married Lewis W. J. CAMPBELL 4 Jun 1923, Butler, Butler Co., PA. She died 16 Jun 1967 in the Dusty Rose Rest Home, Summit Co., Butler Co., PA; buried 19 Jun Bear Creek Cem., Fairview Twp., Butler Co.
