A big thanks to Helen Beveridge for spending her Saturday morning getting the following items online for us! 1893-1905 Butler County Births, for surnames beginning with the letter D. A Butler County Genealogical Society page which includes the next meeting date as well as a copy of the bylaws that we are working on! The first of the headstone pictures of the Middlesex U. P. Church Cemetery. This will be a work in progress. It takes a lot of time to get these things in working order and Lynn Beatty has sent lots for us to do! Enjoy! Pat www.rootsweb.com/~pabutle2
Iris, I haven't gotten back far on the MANNY's because I have no real interest since I'm not descended from them. Hope some of this will info will help you. Arthur Ray MANNY's is son of: (and 2nd wife) Christian J. (Joseph?) MANNY (aka as Chris or Christ) Born 19 Aug 1878, Butler Borough, Butler Co., PA Marr: 1st Lydia CAMPBELL (She died 25 Apr 1904) Marr: 2nd 8 Nov 1906, Butler, Butler Co., PA to Ethel Mae OSMAN (my grandaunt) Died: 3 Apr 1938, Butler, Butler Co. Bur: 5 Apr 1938, Rose Hill Cemetery, Butler Christian's parents were Joseph MANNY (twin) and Anna MANNY. Joseph may be the Joseph that is age 7 below. I would love to know Anna's maiden name. If you want data on my grandaunt, Ethel Mae OSMAN, let me know. She had a millenary shop in Butler in the 1940s. I have a vague memory of being in it when I was a little girl. Also, I'll type up Christ MANNY's obit for you if you want. It names some of his relatives and 2 other sons to his first wife. I did hear from somebody years ago that said the name MANNY was French and spelled MONET or something like that at one time. I can't seems to find anything about this in my file. In my search for information on my HILLIARD line, I found the obit for my great-grandfather WILLIAM J HILLIARD, b. April 15, 1864. WILLIAM was the son of JAMES HILLIARD, b. abt. 1827 and ELIZABETH (her maiden name looks like SMITH on William's death certificate). Funeral services this afternoon were in charge of the Odd Fellows Lodge of Evans City." Does anyone have information on Williams's siblings?
The name and age fit for Harold Cooper and father Thomas. I have forwarded this to Harold's son for his comment. The census information gives us quite a bit including the road where the house was. I know other family members in Cabot in their late 80s that will remember this house. Thanks. I will let you know what we come up with. My grandfather, Harold B. Cooper, worked in a butcher shop in Saxonburg in the years around 1914 to 1920 (and perhaps longer). He married another Cooper -- Sarah Estelle Cooper from the Cabot area. My mother, Elizabeth Ann Cooper, was born in that area on December 4. 1914. On the funeral card for Harold Cooper, it says he was born in Saxonburg, PA on Sept. 22, 1895 and died in Millvale, PA on January 13, 1959. He is buried at Mount Royal Cemetary in Glenshaw, PA. Does someone have information on this man? Or could SKS please look him up in the census for 1910 and 1920? Thanks _____________________ Tim Anderson Gaithersburg, Maryland
If anyone has the 1860 & 1870 census, I am hoping someone could look up for the family of Martin Wahl in Forward Twp., Butler Co. PA. In 1880 Johann Martin & Christina Wahl lived in Forward Twp., Butler Co. PA. When Martin died in 1904 there was to be 10 surviving children. So far I have found the following 9. Catherine b abt 1850 William b. 1852 Heinrich b. 8/1853 Andreas b. 2/1857 Mary Magdalene b. 11/1858 Ausmus b. abt 1863 Matilda b. abt 1865 George b. 3/1867 Anna b abt 1869 Thanks, Gloria Weiss
Gloria, I don't have that census but - I have a book, "From the Archives of Butler County, Pennsylvania" by Diana Marie Voltz Geibel pub by Closson Press, 1997. In here I find several pages on the Wahl families with much info starting with Theobald Wahl > Sebestian Wahl > Johann Michael Wahl > Johann George Wahl > Johann Ludwig Wahl > George Heinrich (aka Johann Heinrich) Wahl > Johann Martin Wahl > Johann Martin Wahl Jr m. (1) Katherina "Catherine" Holderieth, (2) Christina Kriez/Kriess, (3) Augusta M. That's just a quick outline, spouses, dates, children, locations, etc. are listed. They married several Marburgers. You can probably find the book at a library. I purchased mine but it is not cheap, $75 as I recall. -Mary maryliz1@attbi.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "Glorygirl" <GJWEISS@hargray.com> To: <PABUTLER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, January 23, 2003 9:06 AM Subject: [PABUTLER-L] Census look up for Wahl > If anyone has the 1860 & 1870 census, I am hoping someone could look up for the family of Martin Wahl in Forward Twp., Butler Co.
