    1. [PABUTLER-L] BEIGHLEY surname
    2. I am seeking information on the surname BEIGHLEY and its variations. The family was known to be in SW Pennsylvania from the 1770s to the 1860s when they moved to Freeborn County, Minnesota. Many stayed in PA and many went to MN. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Sylvia Searching in MD: I am searching forr the above surname. Conrad BEUCHLER (sp?) came to Philadelphia in 1754 as an indentured servant to George WILES. Oct. 22, l754. Ship Halifax, Thomas Coatam, Captain, from Rotterdam, last from Cowes. ---Inhabitants from Wirtemberg, Hesse, Franconia and the Palatinate, ---ten Roman Catholics. Conrad Buchler, p. 342 Also on the same CD, p. 445 The Oath of Allegiance: List of Foreigners imported in the ship Halifax, Capt. Thomas Coatam, from Rotterdam, last from Cowes. Qualified, Oct. 22, 1754. He swore his allegiance to the King of England and at that time signed his name {"Conrad Beuchler". When he married he changed the name to BEIGHLEY. . Conrad married Margaretta Wiles. At this time he changed his name to Beighley. Their first home was near Funkstown MD on a tract of land known as "Wiles Beginning They were communicants of the old German Lutheran Reformed Church of Salem. It is still standing, as of 1991, one mile from Hagerstown, MD, on the old Saratoga Road. Any help you can give me with this surname, or information about the church above and how to get its records, would be greatly appreciated. Sylvia

    3. I have never been able to find Peter / Petrus ADAM(s) who should be 19 or 20 years old in the 1850 census. He married in Jan 1851 to a Hannah RIETH / RIEDT / REED in Orwigsburg, Schuylkill Co., PA ... but I can not find him anywhere. In 1854 they removed to Wisconsin where I have them until he died in 1890. All's I have ever found on him is that he was "born in PA in 1830." Stories that have been passed down is that his father died before 1836 and his mother remarried .. he supposedly had 1/2 siblings: Solomon, George and Polly (who married a Mr. CINCH). If you could find anything on my Peter ADAM(s), it would be WONDERFUL. 3. It is located on Route 128, going towards Hamilton. I live out in Okeana past Ross. The Watson's are pretty well known out in this area. I don't really know them myself, but I know people who do. I may be mistaken, but I believe they are the ones that own what used to be the girl scout camp off of Layheigh Rd in Ross/Hamilton. I don't know where you are from, so maybe these names don't mean anything to you. In case you are not from this state of Ohio, it is in the South/Western section. Sorry that I don't know any more at this time. But, I will certainly ask the friends of mine that know of them when I get a chance. Donna

We know they are in Butler County in 1860, except by this time his wife may be second wife Hannah. (We don't know Eliza's date of death or second marriage date.) We have both Ancestry.com and Genealogy.com memberships and can view the image online, but if you could give me a page/township to look in, that would save me alot of time! Thanks! Joyce

    2. Susan McMorrine
    3. Deanna, I found your James Elliott in the 1930 Butler Co., PA census. He was 51 yrs old and born in PA. That would mean that he was born circa 1879-1880. Then I went and searched the 1880 Pennsylvania Census for James Elliott's that were around 1 year old at the time of the census...here is what I found at the www.familysearch.org web site. I hope that one of these rings enough bells to be yours!!! If one of these is yours let me know and I will get you a copy of the actual census page. Good luck in your research. 3. Dee, You should visit one of the Butler County Websites that has a special page that we've just started for Middlesex Township. www.rootsweb.com/~pabutle2 We have found that the Middlesex Presbyterian Church/Cemetery is in Penn Township though. So you have to click on Penn Township to find those records for the moment. We're working on straightening some of these things out. The Middlesex Church records are still on the Middlesex township page. Pat www.rootsweb.com/~pabutle2

    1. [PABUTLER-L] Genealogical Society
    2. Pat
    3. Ed and I would like to thank all who ventured out last evening to the second meeting. It was well attended once again with lots of great input. Leadership Volunteers are sometimes hard to come by and we really felt that we needed to have a Secretary to help keep us in order, immediately. As the crowd dispersed we found that volunteers just weren't in abundance for that type of job. So we approached Mrs. Curt (Joyce) Rauschenberger and asked for her help in this matter. Joyce has graciously agreed to take on those duties for the moment and you will be receiving your Butler County Genealogical Society Meeting notes from her. Joyce will also make sure the meetings are advertised in the Butler Eagle once a month. We have also discussed the minutes that will be compiled of each meeting and they will be posted to the website. Everyone should either read them there or print out a copy to bring along to the meeting so that we can either approve or make amendments to them. More information will be posted within a week or so about last evening's meeting, membership applications, and things to come. Thanks, Pat and Ed
