    3. Hello Pearl, Do you know anything more about Mary EVANS who married Gideon GIBSON? I'm interested in the EVANS surname. My 3rd great grandmother also named Mary EVANS was born about 1831 in probably Armstrong Co., PA. She was living in New Bethlehem Borough, Clarion Co., PA, in 1880 with her second husband, James WALLACE. Perhaps your Mary EVANS was a niece to mine. Any information would be greatly appreciated. 1. [PABUTLER-L] Crocker, William and Sprott, Alice and descendants -- early-mid 1800s, Slippery Rock
    2. Kaye Steward
    3. Would like to find genies researching the family of William Crocker and wife Alice Sprott (born Scotland) in Slippery Rock, Butler Co, PA in 1880 Census. Some online info at familysearch.org says William was born March 1817 in Neshannock, Lawrence Co, PA, and Alice born in Scotland, but haven't documented this myself yet. From various entries at that same source, I believe this couple might have been married Dec 2, 1840 - again, unproven. They had a large family -- seems as many as 14 children: Elizabeth, Edward Smith, Mary Jane, George Hutchinson, John Shelby, Charles S, Emeline Whilhelmina, Luther Lee, Margaret Priscilla, Alice Virginia, Katharine, Luisa, Edward and Carline (likely Caroline) are named by various people who posted info a few years ago. That means a total of 14 kids born between 1840 and 1860 -- with two of them named Edward. Obviously there may be errors, but it is also possible the eldest one died, and they gave a second child the same name, which was the custom in some families. Sources have various birthrates, and no info yet on who those Crocker children married, so lots more work to do to trace these collateral lines. Direct interest is in the family of John Selby Crocker, married to Maria(h) Cook(e), who were in Peculiar, Cass Co, MO when 1880 Census was taken, but eventually lived/died in Latah Co, Idaho. Their son George married my grandmother's sister, and I am working with my Crocker cousins to trace ancestors in PA. Have info to share on that branch of family, and anxious to connect to folks researching Wm/Alice Crocker family. Would also like to know from other Crocker researchers if anyone knows who William's parents were. Thanks in advance for any connections, information, or research suggestions, K. Steward
