Hi Pearl, Thanks for this and the other message! I want to make sure I have this correct.... Thomas J. EVANS born 1814..... in Wales, right? I've run across other EVANS born in Wales and this is the way I'm eliminating some possible connections. It's possible my Mary EVANS may have been a daughter to George EVANS listed in Armstrong Co., PA. In 1830 he is in Red Bank and in 1840 he is in Sugar Creek Twp. took a little break to check 1850 again... Found a George EVINS (sic?) in Madison Twp., Clarion Co., PA, that could be the same one as above. He is age 55, wife Barbara 55; daughter Eliz (sp?) age 14. It appears they were born in PA, so maybe I got something here. I don't know why I didn't find this before. Wish me luck and keep in touch. Clarion and Westmoreland counties border both Butler and Armstrong. You might find what you're looking for in one of those counties. Here are a couple of links that might be helpful: For a history of Pennsylvania counties and when they came into being, you can click here: http://www.pagenweb.org/map/index.html And for a map of all the counties as they are today, you can click here: http://www.pagenweb.org/imagemap.html I hope this helps! Hi, I would love to have you do a look-up in 1900 and 1910. I have access to 1920 and 1930 thru Ancestry.com, but can't seem to find them. Reuben CONFER (in 1880 he was listed as Reubin CONFERS) Born about 1885, PA; occupation: coal miner Wife: Laura (BUZARD), CONFER, born 25 Oct 1861, PA Son: John A. CONFER, born abt. 1879 They were in New Bethlehem, Clarion Co., PA If you ever need a look-up in 1880, let me know. I have the CDs. Thanks so very much. I have some McCafferty, Butler Co., info. I am still seeking more. James McCafferty m. Catherine ? In Donnegall Tp., Butler Co., 1820 census (M'Afferty). I believe they came over in 1803, unmarried, from Fermangh. Between 1803 and 1820 I have nothing. After that, I have information on their descendants. Many of my early McCaffertys are buried in St. Joseph's, in N. Oakland, Butler Co., Their oldest son Charles married Anne Duffey, also in the area. Their grandchildren migrated to Ohio, where I live know. Let me know what else I can help with. Susan, I also have SNYDER ancestors, but further back. It's possible your John SNYDER could be connected to Valentine SNYDER (1750/55-btn 1811-1818) who finally settled in Armstrong Co., PA; which is now Clarion Co., PA. Let me know if you want the family group I compiled for him. I would need to e-mail it to you privately since it takes up a few pages. I answer a lot of SNYDER queries, so not sure if we already corresponded. Bev in Calif. Hi, I just recently found that my GG grandmother was a Gibson. Born Eliza A. Gibson on Aug 6, 1818 married Thomas A. Donaldson, Sr. She died Feb 11, 1898. They are both buried in the Evans City Cemetery. They had several children: Jesse M., Elizabeth (Bolander), Harriet (Wilson), Nancy (LIttle), Angeline (Croft) Thomas A., Martha (Bartley), and Margaret. Any connection to other Gibson's or Donaldson's would be a great help. I am stuck at this point and having trouble making connections. If anyone is interested in getting some census lookups, particularly Pennsylvania, I have ... or have access to census data in Pennsylvania for 1850, 1860, 1870, 1900, 1910, 1920, 1930. For several I will send you back scanned images of the original census pages, such as they are.. If interested in having a lookup, please send me sufficient information to make an accurate identification for you. I will do as soundex if no matches pop on spelled name as provided. Please: Provide me a given name along with the surname you are researching, if possible. It really makes everything a lot simpler if I am not looking for all the Smiths in Butler County etc., and I can be responsive to lots more people that way.
Jane McCafferty m. James Smith, grandson of my Jeremiah Smithe Jr., in 1875. That's all I have on her.
