All my records have vanished during my last five moves. I had the birth and death dates for James and Catharine but could not remember where they were buried - although I did visit the area about 25 years ago. I had James' father as Alexander S. but do not have a name for his mother. Does the S stand for Samuel? Also, was Alexander S's father Robert? My great grandmother was James' and Catherine's child - Frances Isabelle and assume you descend from one of her sisters. Do you also have Howe information? Looking forward to hearing from you and many thanks again for writing. Linda ps tried your email address at yahoo but it was returned to me. Hey Carl, how does James C. Burnsides fit in. I have Samuel Burnsides that marrid Mahala Jane Gallagher. I only have two children for them. Deloss and Howard. I'm curious because of the James C. Burnside. I have been tracking that "C" commection for a long time. My "C" in James C. Gallagher is purley a guess or a hope that I added without proof. According to the Butler Co. book, John Ray son of Wm. had 400 acres two miles W of Fairview. He was one of the first settlers. John C. Ray (b 1/30/1836) married Tirza McConnell 11/21/1861, they had 145 acres of Ray land. I checked the 1858 Land Owner Map and found Wm Ray #140 & John at #260? Wm. was grandfather to my great grandfather John C. Ray. What does that mean???? John C. Ray-Tirza McConnell Great grandparents parents of John--John and Ann Smith grandparent of John--Wm Ray Also found under Land Warrants John Ray 18Jul.1863 25 Aug.1863 Vol. H #55 Pg 370 What does that mean??? May a stop at the library in Butler would be a good idea. I understand they are very helpful there. Betsy Agey ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com

You should also check the 1858 and 1874 maps that are online at www.rootsweb.com/~pabutler. You may find his name on those maps. Pat -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG. The reason is I need to forward an email I received about Samuel Burnside from Mary Harmon of the "Prospect Area Preservation Society". She filled in alot of his family. Several years ago I had a customer with the name Burnside but did not realize what the name meant at the time. I believe she still lives there but could have moved back to Florida where came from to Butler. Will have to check. His younger sister, Mary Jane, b. ca. 1842, was my greatgrandmother. I would be very much interested in anything you might have concerning Samuel's ancestry. I am especially interested in trying to find his parents. These BURNSIDE children, Samuel, James, Mary Jane, and Elder, were living with the Adam LINTON family in Muddy Creek in 1850, suggesting that they may have been orphaned at an early age.
