    3. This morning I deleted 24 emails, which basically had comments as illustrated on this email and this has been going on for almost a week now, averaging about 10 at a time. Those 10 are because I check my email through out the day, so in a days time it is quite a few emails which just have thank you and short comments. I certainly appreciate the activity on the Bucks site and check each email for good information concerning genealogy. Please bare with me and do not jump to conclusions or feel insulted, because if you do not know there is a much better way to thank people and that is thru private emails. Oh, you do not have their email address. Yes you do, if you use "Outlook Express". On the email you wish to sent privately; 1.Put the cursor on that email and right click (If you use the right hand rule). 2. A window will appear, go to the bottom and click on "properties". 3. Another window will appear and the individuals email address is there. 4. Do a copy and paste on the email you wish to mail, and delete any other emails in the line where the email address goes. 5. If you want to explore further, click the "Details" tab and that will show the route and address and other tracking information. I hope this helps some one on this site for future knowledge and cuts down on a lot of emails which are not seeking genealogical information. Thanks for the patience of my lengthy email which is not a genealogical information seeking email. Gordon A. 1. [PABUCKS] Broadcasting announcements vs Private requests and thank-you's

    3. Hello enthusiastic listers! Gordon put it quite nicely I thought and prefaced with a polite request for no one to feel insulted. It's totally appropriate for generous people like Becky to offer to do look-ups, and that is not an issue. There seemed to be some confusion as to Gordon's motive, so I thought maybe I could offer my view. As an example of what Gordon is asking, yesterday I responded to Becky, but through a private email to her, asking if there were any BOYDS. She very kindly responded to my private email. I responded and thanked her. No one had to go through the process of opening each email of that conversation just to determine whether it might apply to them or someone they know. It has been a relatively rough several days, what with the innocent glitch that occurred, responses that it incurred, and the now multiple emails of enthusiastic responses to Beckys kind offer. There are some that should be broadcast emails, like Becky's, and then there are some there don't need to be. On the other hand, we enjoy personal rapport on the list and that is always welcome addition to the context of any post about genealogy. I am a member of eight lists, and this type of reminder goes out occasionally on each of them, usually when someone has been away or had computer problems. It can be a big issue when people have email problems and can't open theirs for two weeks or so. Can you imagine? I have no idea whether I'm succeeding at being helpful or not, so if not, please pardon me if you will. Again, thank you Becky for your very kind offer!
