    3. Hi List, Looking for local Indian Tribes for this area between 1700-1800. Does anyone have really good web sites that I can find information on them for this time period? I'm looking for the tribes as well as Chiefs. Thank you in advance. Pat

    3. Also in Reference to the American Indians; Many other tribes from different locations had children taken from them and sent to schools in the Pennsylvania Area supposedly to "Civilize" them. These Indian children often took English names and stayed in the area in order to avoid the "mis - treatment" by the English. sometimes they married into the families, sometimes, as in the case of one Native American that is still living they were adopted by the "English" families. Ed Fell is Native American (both parents) but was adopted by the Fell Family. If you are looking for an ancestor...Lots of Luck !!! I do know of the school the Indian children were sent, but if memory serves me correctly, it began after the Civil War when people started moving more west and taking Indian land. It's very interesting reading, far from the old cowboys and Indian movies we used to watch on Saturdays.
