I am not the seller or affiliated with ebay. "This hand done artwork celibrates the mariage of Charles Mumbauer"mit" Elizabeth L Marler by the Rev. Samuel Hess in 1844. The work was commisioned by the husband and wife in 1886 to be included in their family bible by the schrivner August Bauman. Delicate kissing doves are framed by portraits of the couple and two of their children. Absolutely incredible artwork and shading along with textbook caligraphy highlight this Pa. German collectable. Interestingly enough, I am unable to find August Bauman listed in any of my literature on Pa Frakturs, Tauftshiens or schrivners, and he may have been a transient artist passing through the area at the time, but the artwork is first class none the less! I am selling the entire bible (rough) and it contains other recordings by Bauman of births and deaths in the Mumbauer family. My reserve is our cost.
