He was apparently still living in 1883 when THE HISTORY OF MARION COUNTY, OHIO (Leggett, Conaway & Co.) was published. There's a biography of him at: http://heritagepursuit.com/mhs1883.htm His daughter, my ggg-grandmother was Mary Jane Smith who married Nathan Moll of Lehigh or Northampton County, PA. The couple were in Marion, OH on the 1860 census and St. Louis, MO on the 1880 census. My gg-grandmother was Ora Moll, their third child. Anybody else looking for this Thomas Smith? - Heather
