Dear Folks: I could use some help on this one please. My KLIGGE family came to the US in Oct. 1844 from Germany and I thouoght they immediately settled in Philadelphia. However, they do not seem to show up in the 1850 or the 1860 census for Philly. The name begins showing up in the Philadelphia City Directories around the mid to late 1850s. Where were they from 1844 to then? The name is very rare in the US and should be easy to spot, however I've seen it misspelled KLINGE, CLIGGIE, KLEGG, and KLICKEY. I have some evidence that they may have lived just outside Philadelphia, perhaps on a farm. Does anyone have access to an index that might show the following family in Bucks Co. (or Philadelphia) in 1850 or 1860? Catharine KLIGGE; Should be head of household in 1850; age about 43 Children: Frederick (Fritz) Henry William (Hermann) Charles (Ernest) Louise Caroline Catharine Thank you, Fred Kligge
