    3. Subject, Hon. Joseph Brewster McCollum, Justice of the Surpreme Court of PA> The McCollums of NY State came to Susquehanna County, were of Scots origin. Alexander McCollum. the great=grandfather of J.B. an A.H. McCollum of Montrose emigrated diring the 18th century and settled in Albany, NY., where he remained. Two of his sons, Hugh and Alexander, the latter of whom was the grandfather of the McCollum brothers, migrated from Albany, NY to Susquehanna county, PA about 1810 and settled in East Bridgewater. Alexander McCollum, was born in 1780, married Mary Trumbull, he died at Lanesboro, in 1871. His wife died 10/10/1862. Their chidlren, John married Emma Bailey, Hugh, George married Lucy Baldwin, and he died in IL., Alexander married Martha Kennard , Peter married Harriet Brewster, Nancy married Silas Baldwin and Mary married Darius Crouch, they lived in MO> Hugh McCollum, son of Alexander, and father of Justice J.B and A.H.McCollum, was born near Albany, NY,. Aug. 9, 1805. At five he migrated with his father to Susqehanna County. The Brewster family of Susquehanna County, from whom whom descended on their mother's side Justice Joseph "Brewster and Alexander H. McCollum, were descendants of Elder Brewster, one of the Pilgrim Fathers who came to America and the "Mayflower" in 1620. The forerunner of the family in Susquehanna County, PA., was Nathan Brewster, the grandfather of Joseph Brewster and Alexander McCollum. He was born in MA., in 1781. He married at Canterbury. CT., Nov.12, 1804 to Polly Raynsford, of New England. She was the d/o Joseph and Anna (Waldo) Raymsford (married Aug. 8. 1777) and a granddaughter of Joseph and Johanna (Gibson) Raynsford, the former born June 29, 1725, died Dec. 23, 1792 and the latter born Feb. 23, 1718 and died Dce 6.1806, they died leaving 2 children, Joshua who married Hannah Lathrop and Polly, wife of Nathan Brewster. Nathan and Polly (Raynsford) Brewer came to PA., in 1807, settled in Bridgewater township. Nathan Brewster died March 7, 1847, aged 66, his wife died March 12, 1850. aged 68. Best Wishes, Geri
