Rev. War (pension) Ricker, Frederick, PA Line R8792, applied 22 Aug. 1834, Dauphin County, aged 70, a resident of Lancaster, PA., some 3 miles from Elizabethtown. Soldier enlisted at Lebanon, PA., soldier referred to his father as serving in the Rev. Dauphin County History great-grandfather, a native of Germany and served in the Rev. paternal grandparents were natives of Lebanon county, they reared a family of 7 children, of whom William survived. Frederick and Catharine (Backstoe) Ricker,parents of George T. who was born at Swatara Twp., July 13, 1839. Frederick Ricker was born in Dauphin County about 1790 and died May, 1872 ( I really don't know what death date is right), he married Catharine Backstoe, d/o George and Elizabeth (Hoover) in Derry township, in 1821, they had 13 children; 5 are listed in the history, Elizabeth, Catherine, Frederick listed elsewhere), Mary and George T. George T. was married at Hummlestown, Nov. 19, 1865 to Catherine Hetrick, d/o Adam and Margaret (Albright) Hetrick.. Children; Maggie C., Edwin S. , William work in Phila., Harry C., who died 1879. George was a school director and also the tax collector for 1 year, member of the Lutheran Church. Catherine Hetrick was born May 28, 1843, her parents were natives of Dauphin County, her father was born Jan. 11, 1803, her mother was born July 11, 1798. Her father Adam, married Margaret Albirght, d/o Henry and Elizabeth (Walmer) Albirght. The father was of the Reformed faith, the mother a Lutheran. Now I checked the service files of the Rev., and the only Johns served in NJ Line, there was a Henry from PA and a Martin from PA. Lebanon County On Aug. 25. 1742, Johan Friedrich Riker landed at Phila., on the brigantine "Mary" In the old Lutheran church burying ground at Hummelstown, are the graves of Jacob Ricker ( son of Johan Friedrich) and his wife Christiana. The tombstone says Jacob died March 19, 1802, aged 82 and that his wife, born in Oct. 1729 and died Oct. 13, 1794, aged 65. They had 2 sons, John and Frederick, of whom the latter lived to be an old age and leaving "no children" and was buried at Hummlestown. John son of Jacob, married Mary Magdalena Fishburn, the d/o Philip C. Fishburn.. John and Mary had 9 children; (1)Mary who married Nicholas Plouse and had 2 sons, David and John; (2) John Jacob; (3) John married Hannah Orth and had children; Elizabeth, Catharine, Hannah, Maggie, Lavina, and Sarah; (4) Frederick married Catharine "Backstose" and had 11 children, Levi, David, Alfred, Elizabeth, Catharine, Louisa, Frederick, Margaret, Sarah Ann, Mary Jane, and George T. (5) Hannah married John Baughman and no children; (6) David marrid Hannah "Abrims", and had 2 children; (7) Catharine married Christian Hartzler and had a son Reuben; (8) Daniel married Mary Grate and had a daughter Mary Magdalena; (9) Christina married Henry Geistwite, and had children, John, William, Joseph, Michael, Mary, Kate, Sallie, Hannah. John Jacob Ricker was born near Hummelstown, June 9, 1797, died 1860 he married Susanna "Shaeffer" they had 14 children, 7 lived to maturity. John S. who married Widow Dumy, Daniel who married Mary Brindle, Jacob who married Elizabeth Palmer, William H. of Huntingdon County, married Mary Imboden, Mary A., who married Jeremiah Hocker and Samuel, married Malinda Weller, d/o Jacob and Mary (Peffley) Weller and they had Allen Ira, Mary Susan, and Anna Rachel.
