Response: In The American Genealogist, Whole No. 59, Vol. XV, No. 3 (Jan. 1939), in an article entitled The Family of Joseph Thornton of Newport Pagnell, co. Buckingham, England, and of Newtown, Bucks Co., Pennsylvania, authored by John Insley Coddington, M.A., there is a brief discussion of the activities of Amos Strickland; of his first wife's family; and of the three children by his second wife, Margaret Thornton, including Elizabeth who married (first) Dr. James de Normandie of Bristol. Serious researchers will know John Insley Coddington as a meticulous genealogist along the lines of Jacobus. My photocopied article was obtained (for a fee) in 2003 from the Newtown Historic Association, by the kind auspices of one Heinz Heinemann. If you wish it, I could send you--or anyone else, for that matter--as an attachment the two pages of the article on which the information is given, if you contact me off-list. -- DK McLaren Researching THORNTON, TWINING, HAINES (with limited success on the Haineses--help me out, folks!) --------------------------------- Make free worldwide PC-to-PC calls.
