Maggie Maggie: It's very generous of you to be willing to do lookups in the Humphrey book. However, the other person who posted to the list is correct that techncially speaking you are a bit in violation of Humphrey's copyright in posting your responses to a public list. With a current publication date of 1993 it will be a very long time before this book is in public domain. Fair Use provisions of the Copyright Law permit a small amount of copying for 'research purposes' without consent of the author, however when doing multiple lookups and responses online you go beyond Fair Use and tred in dangerous waters. You should write to the PABUCKS list again and tell everyone to contact you privately off-list if they are interested in a lookup and should restrict your answers directly to that person. You're leaving yourself open to a civil action (you and you alone not Rootsweb which takes no responsibility for your postings). If it were me I'd request the Help Desk to remove any responses from the List archives. Again I think it's great of you to offer to do lookups since doing so has probably flooded your email inbox.
