I have both the book of Bucks County Births 1682-1800 and the CD that covers southeastern PA. A note of CAUTION; when I compared the book entries to the original records, I found 17% were in error for a relatively small sample. Most errors were in the dates and only a few with the first names. I found that the family names always appeared in the records that the book referenced; thus, the book and CD serve as a good index to the original records but the specific details always have to checked in the original records. Interestingly, the exact same errors appeared in the book by Watring & Wright (Vol 2, Bucks Church Records of the 17th & 18th Centuries), an amazing coincidence. I personally told John Humphrey about my observations but he didn't seem interested. Hank Stuebing
Hank, when I checked records in the court house and family bible against Davis, I also found a few errors. I guess that is why they have erasers on pencils. No matter what you hear or see, I guess it pays to double check. Linda --------------------------------- Sucker-punch spam with award-winning protection. Try the free Yahoo! Mail Beta.
Hank, Do you know what part of Germany your ancestors emigrated from? One of my 2g gms on my mother's side is Elizabeth Stuebing. I think but can't prove that she came from Essen or Hessia. Where are the original records that you checked against? You are a careful researcher. Do you mind if I contact you again? I am researching and writing about the Afflerbach family. Do you wish to give me your e mail address? Jane
