I am new to the list and have only started my research in Bucks County. I am interested in the HADDONFIELD/ ADAIR family listed below, especially Joseph’s parents. From the 1830’s to the 1870’s, this family lived in Middletown Twp, Bucks County, PA. The surname is variously spelled Haddenfield, Hattenfield, Haddinfield, etc. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. I will gladly share all information I have on this and related families. JOSEPH HADDONFIELD b 1805 (C50) or 1801 (C60) in PA. d before 8 July 1870, probably in Bucks County. m 5 Feb 1831 in Bucks County, PA to HANNAH ADAIR, d/o John Adair (Marriage Licenses Issued by Isaac Hicks, 1824-1836). Hannah Adair Haddonfield has a range of birth years, ranging from 1810 (C60, C80), to 1811 (C50), to 1813 (C70). She died sometime after the City Directory of Philadelphia was compiled in 1890 (“wid Joseph, h r 1130 Fkd av”). Children (probably not in order). 1. Caroline Haddonfield b abt 1833 in PA, d November 1874, Northeast, Cecil Co, MD. m Edward Bushrod Johnson 27 Oct 1853 in Middletown Twp, Bucks Co (Marriage Registrations, 1852-1854). Caroline is my connection. I have a great deal of information to share on this family. 2. Charles Wesley Haddonfield Also Wesley. Born October 1835 (C00) in PA. Died sometime after 1910. Married abt 1866 (C00) or 1867 (C10) to Mary J ? • In C60, Wesley H is working as a farm laborer for Andrew Brown, Lower Makefield Twp. • In C70, Wesley H returns home to help after the apparent death of his father. • In C80, Charles W Haddonfield has moved to Beach St in Fishtown, Philadelphia, where he is an engineer and head of a huge household (including mother Hannah, brothers Thomas P and Morris F, and sister Catherine). • In the Philadelphia City Directory of 1890, he is an engineer living at 1052 Beach. • In the Special Schedule for Vets in 1890, he is living at 1052 Beach. Service in Co I, 71 PA Inf from 31 May 1861 to 2 July 1864. Pension files ordered. • In C00, Charles W Haddonfield is an engineer, living at 1122 Earl St, Philadelphia. • In C10, Charles Haddonfield, now 75 and wife Mary J (65) report that they’ve been married 43 years. Mary J? has had 11 children, 7 now living. Here’s an outline of their issue: a. Annie Haddonfield, b 1867 in PA (C80) b. George H (?) Haddonfield, b Jan 1872 in PA (C00). Marries Isabella? between 1891 (C00) and 1893 (C10). In C00, Isabella reports that she’s had 5 kids and 3 are currently living. Geo W Hattenfield, Co C, 6th US Inf, served as a Private 21 Jun 1886- 1 Jun 1889 and as a Private in Co G (C?), 3rd PA Cav from 1 Aug 1861 to 24 Aug 1864 (3 years, 23 days). OK, this is a bit of a mystery. In the 1850 census, there are twins in Joseph’s house: William T and Robert Y Haddonfield. Robert Y is not seen in later censuses, but William T seems to become Thomas in C60 and C70. This is the man who is later listed as Thomas P Haddonfield. b May 1849 in PA (C00) Married in 1880 to Mary E ?, b Feb 1860 in PA.
