Edward Frank JAFFIE (b. IL 1936; living) is the only child of Edward JAFFIE (NY 1895-1973 MO) and Gertrude MUELLER (PA 1911 - 1938 IL). Gertrude's mother's name we do not know, except that she was German; both she and her husband had "thick accents", and may both have been immigrants. Father Frank MUELLER was Swiss-German and a PA dairy farmer when grandson visited, and who likely died in Pitts. G'son does not recall meeting MUELLER relatives during his stay as a small child, only g'mother's staunch defense of Hitler/Nazism. Frank would have been born ~1880s or later. Marriage was probably in the 1910s. SSDI lists exactly one Frank MUELLER 1880-1964 who both got his ss# and died in PA, and would have been old enough to be Gertrude's father in 1911. SS registration began in the mid 1930s, yes? >From the SS application, that Frank MUELLER: Middle initial was J. (address at death?) 937 W Trenton apt# 8455, Morrisville PA 19067. Original application date 12/01/1936, at the time of application he listed his residence as Pittsburg, place of birth as Austria. Father's name George MUELLER, mother's name Anna WEIS. Age at last birthday was 56 (in 1936), born 1880, died 1964 He lived to be 84. I have searched http://ellisislandrecords.org/ for a likely legal immigrant to no avail, partly because many of the ships' passenger manifests were impossible to read. (not the case in most other searches that URL) I included initial F, Frank, Franz &c in my search. Ellis Island immigration records begin in 1892, ran up into the 1920s. So, tell me about this MUELLER, please, if there is any possibility of a match.
