    3. Dorothy, I don't know the parents of your John Hellings (perhaps Joseph - see the deed below), but I have some interesting information about him. Please share any info you might have about Erwin/Erwine/Tomlinson with me. Thank you. In 1810, Thomas and Tacy Harding sold 6 1/2 acres of land in Southampton Twp., Bucks County. PA to John Hellings for $100.00. (I see their son, Nathan Harding b. 1799 married a Rebecca Hellings). In 1811 John and Margaret Hellings sold the same property to my ancestor, John Erwin for $90.00. When John Erwin died in 1823, he owed $59.00 to Thomas Hellings. In 1826, Thomas Hellings insisted that the land be sold (though John Erwin's wife and young children were living there) to pay the debt. John Erwin's brother-in-law, Enos Tomlinson bought the property at auction for $100 in 1827. Below is a (terrible) transcript of the deed (as best as I can do figure out) I do have the original copy: Bucks County Deed Records 0098 Page 67 - 72 Deed This indentur made the first day of April in the year of our Lord One thousand Eight hundred and Eleven Between John Helling of Southampton Township, Bucks County, mason and Margaret his wife of the one part and John Erwine of the same place Labour of the other part witnessth that the aid John Hellings and wife for and in consideration of the sum of ninety dollars lawful money to them in hande paide by the said John Erwine a & ande upon the questionhere of Receipt where of they do acknowledge and own themselves fully satisfied & paide have granted bargained and sold in annd by these presents they the saide John Hellings & Margaret his wife do grant ___ sel release convey and confirm unto the saide John Erwine and to his heirs and assigns all that the following _______ piece of six and a half acres of land in the said township of Southampton ___ Thomas Harding by the deed of the second of April last granted unto the said John Hellings in fee beginning at and done in the Township line of Southampton ___ of another ___ late of saide Hellings ____ by the same south seventy five and three quarter degrees west twenty nine ande ae half perches to a stone corner of a lot late Joseph Hellings thence by the same South fourteen and a quarter degrees lasat twelveperches and a quarter to a Stone and South Seventy five and five quarter degrees west eleven perches thence south thirty right and three quarter degrees east ten perches one anth to a Stone South eighty degrees east seven perches forty five hundredths to a stone and north sevnty six perches half degrees east, forty seven perches and three tenths by saide Thomas Harding lande to a stone in saide Township linethen along the same thirty perches and nine tenths to the place of beginning.
