My e-mail address is changing to > kiledijon@yahoo.com Dear Dianne Kile and other subscribers to PABUCKS-L@rootsweb.com: My great-grandmother was Susanna DICKERT, b 12 Feb 1834 in Bucks County, a daughter of Jacob DICKERT (b 13 JUL 1800 in Bucks Co., d 26 Aug 1884) and Catharine KILE (b 23 May 1816 in Bucks Co, d 20 Jul 1901). I have been searching for many years for the parents of both Jacob DICKERT and Catharine KILE, but all my searches have been futile. Catharine KILE was baptized 11 Apr 1875 by Rev. Shelly in the Mennonite Church. (Source: Records of John H. Oberholtzer and Andrew B. Shelly, available at the Historical Library and Archives of the Mennonite Historians of Eastern PA, P.O. Box 82, 565 Yoder Road, Harleysville, PA 19438). Catharine's husband, Jacob DICKERT, was baptized in the fall of 1880 at age 80, by Rev. Shelly in the Mennonite Church. Jacob and Catharine (KILE) DICKERT were members of the West and East Swamp Mannonite Churches, which are a few miles northwest of Quakertown in Milford Twp, Bucks Co., and they were buried at the East Swamp Mennonite Church graveyard. They had 7 children: 1. Susanna DICKERT (1834-1892) who married Joseph R. DIEHL. (They are my great-grandparents on my father's side.) 2. Maria Dickert, born abt 1837. No further record. 3. Harrison Dickert, born abt 1840, d 1878. Name of spouse unknown. 4. Matilda Dickert, born abt 1842, died after 1900, m a Mr. NUSS. 5. Annie E. Dickert, b 1843, m Morris M. SWARTZ; had 8 children. 6. Eliza Dickert, born abt 1844. No further record. 7. Amanda Dickert, b 1848, d 1893, unmarried. Catharine KILE DICKERT died at age 85 in 1901 at the home of her daughter, the widow Annie DICKERT SWARTZ, with whom she had been living after husband, Joseph DICKERT, died in 1884. At the end of my "Notes" about Catharine KILE, I have included some items "FOR FURTHER RESEARCH," as follows: PA 1790 Census has 3 Kiles living in Bucks County (townships are not listed): 1. John KILE (over 16, Head of House) with 2 males under 16 and 2 females, ages not given. 2. Hartman KILE(over 16, Head of House) with 4 males under 16 and 4 females, ages not given. 3. Melcher KILE (over 16, Head of House) with only 1 female whose age is not given. PA 1850 Census shows KILEs living in the following locations in Bucks County: BedminsterTwp, p 77 and 240; Hilltown, p 322; Nockamixon Twp, p 130; Richland Twp, p 219 and 296; Doylestown, p 200. In A.J. Fretz's The Rosenberger History, published 1906, (five years after the death of Catharine Kile Dickert in 1901 at age 85), it states that Daniel Rosenberger, son of the immigrant Heinrich Rosenberger, purchased land in Hatfield along the county line in 1740, a portion of which is "now Kile's Tavern property." (Who was the KILE who owned that property?) Among the Tombstones in the Flatland Mennonite Cemetery, Richland Twp, Bucks Co, PA. (compiled by Marvin Rosenberger) are the following: 1. Jacob KILE, b 12 Oct 1812, bapt 14 Oct 1812, d 4 Mar 1894, age 81 yr 4 mo 20 da 2. Abraham KILE, b 12 Oct 1812, bapt 14 Oct 1812, d 7 Jul 1900, age 87 yr 8 mo 25 da 3. Isaac KILE, b 12 Oct 1812, bapt 14 Oct 1812, d 12 Nov 1897, age 85 yr 28 da (Note that the date of birth of the three above are the same. Were they triplets???) 4. Hannah, wife of Abraham KEIL, b 6 Sep 1815, d Jan 1856, 40 yr 4 mo 13 da 5. Rachel Kile, b in 1826, d 17 Oct 1876, age 50 yr (Were Jacob, Abraham, Isaac, Hannah, or Rachel siblings of Catharine KILEwho was born in 1816 and married Jacob DICKERT on 25 Aug 1833 in Bucks Co.?) ------------------------------ It is obvious that I have done a great deal of research in an attempt to learn who Catharine KILE's parents were. Can anyone help me? Do you know who any of the above-named KILEs are? Who are some of the people on Rootsweb PABUCKS-L list who helped Dianne KILE? Would any of them have information that would be helpful to me? I would be so very grateful for help! I wish everyone HAPPY HOLIDAYS and a JOYFUL NEW YEAR!
