Bob Long.. Simply wow... -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Sent: Thu, 8 Feb 2007 8:31 PM Subject: [PABUCKS] Emigrants to Pennsylvania I happened to come across an interesting source that might be helpful to some of you on this list.. In the document "Immigrants to Pennsylvania, 1600s-1800s" there is a section titled "Emigrants to Pennsylvania, 1641-1819, A Partial List of the Families Who Resided in Bucks Co., PA, Prior to 1687". It's just twelve pages, but I found my ancestor, "Richard Hough, of Macclesfield, in the County of Cheshire, chapman. Arrived in Deleware (sic) river in the 'Endeavor,' of London, George Thorp, Mr. [master], the 29th 7th Mo., 1683. Servants, Franfcis Hough, to serve 2 years, and to have 50 acres of land; loose the 29th 7th Mo,,1685. Thomas Wood and Mary Wood, his wife; he to serve 5 years and she 4 years, and each to have 50 acres of land. James Sutton, to serve 4 years, to have 8 L [pounds] 15s. per Annum, and 50 acres of land at the expiration of the term." On the same page I found his wife's family: "John Clows, of Gosworth, in the County of Chester, yeoman, and Marjory, his wife. Arrived in the aforesaid ship, the time aforesaid. Children, Marjory, Rebecca, and William Clows. Servamts. Kpse[j Chorley, to serve 2 years; loose the 29th 7th Mo., 1685. To have 50 acres of land. Samuel Hough, 5o serve 4 years; loose the 29th 7th Mo., 1687. To have 50 acres of land. John Richardson, to serve 4 years; loose the 29th 7th Mo., 1687. To have 50 acres of land." Looks like there might have been a shipboard romance, as Richard Hough later married Marjory Clows. Or maybe their families were acquainted in Chester. Other families in the list: George Pownall William Yardley Charles Biles Robert Lucas Luke Brinley Thomas Janney Daniel Brinson John Clows, Jr George Stone John Hough John Brock Gilbert Wheeler William Dark Ann Milcom John Chapman Randulph Blackshaw William Venables Ellin Pearson James Harrison John Heycoc Ann Peacock Phineas Pemberton Henry Marjorum Henry Paxson Ralph Pemberton William Beakes Thomas Paxson Robert Bond Anrew Ellet John Palmer Ellis Jones John Purslow Richard Ridgway James Mode John Rowland Samuel Dare Lydia Wharnby Thomas Rowland Ann Knight James Clayton Joshua Boare Joshua Hoops David Hall William Buckman William Bennet Richard Lundy Gideon Gambell Lionel Brittain Elizabeth Bennet William Biles Thomas Fitzwater Edmund Cutler John Cutler David Davis Richard Amor James Ditworth Edward Stanton Peter Worral If any of these names is meaningful to you, I'll send you the text.
