Hi again, Folks... My representation of surnames in Bucks County is, at best, weak. Oh, I have an AYRES or two (mostly my AYRES do not connect here, but in Dauphin and Philadelphia counties). My strongest representation is among those of surname: STOCKHAM. The immigrant is listed as follows: George was born in Bristol England, came to America in 1765, landed in Philadelphia, PA, and settled at a place known as Schenck's on Penn's Manor, near Bristol, in Bucks CO, PA. He went back to England in 1766 and married Elizabeth Biss, of his native town. In 1767 he returned, with his wife and was a farmer until his death at age 84. He had three sons; Thomas, George and John. ("The History of Camden County New Jersey " by George R[eeser] Prowell, a member of the historical society of PA). Published by L. J. Richards and Co. of Philadelphia, PA, 1886. I am hoping there are those with the historical savvy to be able to tell me exactly where this "Schenck's on Penn's Manor, near Bristol" is or was. Is there anyone else on this list seeking the surname STOCKHAM? I have been found, of late, by a couple of "new" STOCKHAM cousins. I was greatly surprised and pleased. Sadly, many of those who are alive and well, seem to have an extremely low interest in the family history. Shockingly so! I just cannot understand or relate to it, so I am very pleased when I come across someone who *is* interested. Do any of you connect or have any interesting and unusual databases that may list the English surname of STOCKHAM? I would be especially interested in the older ones of the late 1700's to earliest 1800's. Thanks! Vince Summers
