    1. [PABUCKS] Fwd: Neeld gravesites.
    2. Slate Hill is a small (couple of hundred headstones or so) cemetery in Yardley, Lower Makefield Township, Bucks Co, PA. I've been there many times. It is on the main road heading south out of Yardley toward Morrisville. A couple of miles from the center of Yardley. I also tie in to the Brelsfords in Miami County, Ohio near the Champaign County line. A BRELSFORD married a cousin of my Grandfather's, or perhaps one of his sisters. That is my WHITE family, who, incidentally we cannot get out of Bucks County. We believe that a James White, the last man in our White line we can trace is buried in Slate Hill without a headstone. We know his daughter, Lucilla White COOK is. She married a Joel Cook who died in the mid 1820s. The rest of the Whites moved to Champaign/Miami area about 1830 but she remained behind. So, if the person interested in Absalom Cook ties in to a Joel or one of his brothers, I would be very interested. Here is the NEELD info I found. . 3. The records Becky is sending were written by Francis Waite I would say would be very accurate. She is a genealogist and a former employee of Spraunce and lives in Bucks county herself. I would take those records as fact. Be careful people of records from some family genealogy. Some people do not check their facts. If I don't know the person writing the records it is a "good rule of thumb" to use them as clues and check the source before adopting them as fact. the no1rosemom --------------------------------- Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! Absalom died 28 Nov.1874 and Margaret died 25 May 1879, they are both buried in the Churchyard of the Reformed Church in Churchville, Bucks, Penn. All children were born in Northampton Township, Bucks, Penn. Children of Absalom P. Cook Sarah Elizabeth COOK was born ca. 1838 and died ca 1896. She married John FIRMAN. Is she the Sallie FIRMAN (teacher) listed with the Samuel Carnell household in 1880. Caroline Wynkoop COOK was born 16 Aug 1842 Bucks County and died 27 May 1919 in Philadelphia. She married Charles CRAVEN. William W. COOK (my ancestor) was born 21 Nov 1843 Northampton Township, Bucks, Penn. died 22 Mar 1927 Rolla, Phelps, Mo. He married Susanna DuBois RICHARDSON of Richboro, Bucks, Penn. 8 Oct 1875. William earned an A. B. in 1873 and an A. M. in 1876 both from Rutgers. 3. Andrea in MI, you will find that most Friends Minutes from Meeting will be stored at a Quaker College archive in the area. Such as Indiana Yearly Meetings are stored at the Lilly Library at Earlham. I am going to assume that you are looking for minutes from the Bucks County area, so there are a couple of places they will be archived, I doubt they have anything on-line for you to search to your hearts content, but they will have an Archivest, and/or a Custodian of the Records. They should have a copy of old Monthly Meeting minutes, which is where you will more than likely find mentions of members of the meeting being married, death notes, births and so on. There also might be mentions in the Quarterly Meeting level, which would of been the next level above the Monthly Meetings, and then Yearly Meetings are the next level above QM. I'm trying to think of the name of the college in that area that house that, but it escapes me at this time. I am a Friend myself, and if you would like to see what these records look like for an example, I have my meeting's historical minutes on-line, scroll down to the history link and follow that to see them. www.jerichofriends.org Andrea in Indiana ____________________________________________________________________________________ Looking for last minute shopping deals? 3. Listers, please use internet information as "clues" only and check the actual records. I just discovered how much information has been posted on my own family that is in error ! People have a tendency to see a name and connect it with another family or mis-information that they have read on the net. Most of us try to the best of our ability to be accurate and while everybody cannot take trips to the location of their ancestors, still , we need to check the sources as much as possible. 3. Mike, A woman in Pittsburgh and I have worked for 10 years to find out how our Neelds are related, especially since both families were neighbors in Western PA in the 1870 census. I finally found a woman in Silver Springs, MD, who had this piece of paper written by a JP stating that he married James Neeld to Mary Parsons in 1793, IIRC. One of the couple wrote the names and dates of birth of all their kids which instantly united or linked all of the Western PA Neelds and, I believe, all of the Ohio Neelds. The interesting thing is that this woman in Silver Springs has a neighbor who ALSO is a descendant of Tom Janney. It would make a better story if the Neeld descendant in Silver Springs was from the Bucks Neilds or Nields but she isn't, for which I'm eternally grateful. This same woman has traced her ancestry back to the Bucks Nield but she has that wrong. It was a member of the Bucks list who suggested to me last year that it's possible that there were two John Neelds who came to this country. Everybody overlooks mine, who came first, and every Neeld researcher that spells the name that way somehow has managed to trace their ancestry back to Bucks. Before I upset the apple cart, I want to research both men from the day they set6 foot in this country up until 1850 when the census can take over. Al At 10:09 AM 3/6/2008, you wrote: >Nield. 3. I am interested in your kind offers regarding look-ups in two publications, first the Frances Wise Bucks County burials for any Johnson between the years 1750 and 1775. Second publication was mentioned earlier but I can't remember the name of same. It contained some NJ marriages, I believe late 1700's on up? I am looking for any Haney or Heany born in NJ prior to about 1790. Lucky girl I am looking for Johnsons! Obituary from Carbon County states an Elizabeth Hicks born abt. 1767, "came from Perkasie (spelled Perkesy), Montgomery County, (we all know it is Bucks but the author obviously didn't), and that she was placed with William Thomas of Hilltown. William had a large farm in Carbon, then Northampton County, he was a son of Richard Thomas and Elizabeth Walton, and William was arrested for Tory activities in 1776 in Northampton County. Elizabeth is more likely a Johnson than a Hicks, because her daughter's burial information in Carbon County states the woman's name as Elizabeth "get" (maiden name) Johnson. The Haney name comes in as Elizabeth's daughter Rachel b. 1788 in Carbon, married a Charles Haney (Heany, Heaney), about 1810. A possible son, Pierce Haney, stated in the 1880 census that his father was born in NJ. Best guess is that Charles Haney, (Heaney, Heany) was born about 1785. Brick wall of all time! Any thoughts most appreciated! Judy McElderry
