    3. Thanks Linda, I will try this...I've been researching my family for 2 years now and have found an abundance (and have learned much about the lives of my ancestors in Bucks thanks to this forum) of information but I am also stuck on a few crucial links. I've heard about this website and will try it! I realize that the info I need is a shot in the dark but....with genealogical research you have to turn over every stone to find your treasure! 3. Thanks Linda for the information. I do know of the school the Indian children were sent, but if memory serves me correctly, it began after the Civil War when people started moving more west and taking Indian land. It's very interesting reading, far from the old cowboys and Indian movies we used to watch on Saturdays. Pat ----- Original Message ----- From: Linda Musgrave To: pabucks@rootsweb.com Sent: Thursday, March 13, 2008 12:56 AM Subject: Re: [PABUCKS] American Indians Also in Reference to the American Indians; Many other tribes from different locations had children taken from them and sent to schools in the Pennsylvania Area supposedly to "Civilize" them. These Indian children often took English names and stayed in the area in order to avoid the "mis - treatment" by the English. sometimes they married into the families, sometimes, as in the case of one Native American that is still living they were adopted by the "English" families. Ed Fell is Native American (both parents) but was adopted by the Fell Family. If you are looking for an ancestor...Lots of Luck !!! 3. It would be nice if they did. When I went there the genealogist on staff was out and I wanted to get back to the cemetery to take pictures before dark. I couldn't get my cousin to get her head out of her Antique Book long enough to go back even though it is right around the corner from the library. Where the two streets form a triangle or a Y the cemetery sits in the middle of the Y. My aunt and Uncle are buried there and also my mother's uncle and his daughter (the Appletons) enjoy your visit, Linda --------------------------------- Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! 3. Hello, Sorry to jump in. I live in Hilltown Township. Off of Hilltown Pike which is the continuation of 152 North. Yes, a bit Northwest of Doylestown, The next road south of us runs through Hilltown Township, New Britain Township and Chalfont. 152 south will intersect come to a"T" at 202. At that point, one would be in New Britain Township in Chalfont with the choice of continuing on 202 to 309 or turning and continuing on 152 south. Mary L. 3. Probably most everyone knows about inter library loan? But, in case, here's how it is working around here: First of all, find reference to the books you want. Of course there are many ways to do this, such as the bibliographies in other print that you run into, items on pabucks, the on line catalog of the Mormans Family Search (which as you may know, will send out films to local Morman libraries). Go to Google Books, put in a name, and it will take you to many books that contain that name, with a little bit about it. Then you can decide what books you might want to borrow. (Occasionally, the entire book is found on line, as has been noted - it has to be out of copyright ie published over 72 years ago? (100?) THEN, search your local library catalog - probably not there. THEN see if there is a "virtual" catalog. This is on line. Via our local library, we can search for the desired book/books not only in area libraries but all over the state (Massachusettts). If found it can be ordered and delivered to local library. If not found, your local library system can launch a national search. I have had books from library of Congress, an old 1838 volume from somewhere, books from many colleges etc. If they report where a book is but cannot be sent out, ask that search be made IN that book for pages that contain the name you are interested in, and they will send copies of those pages. After you get your book, be sure to consult the bibliography in that book for OTHER books to order. And be sure to thank everybody! Jane
