Hi, David (and everyone else!) Where is the Spruance Library? Can you tell me what resources it has? For a friend, am looking for Watson BEWLEY, born and raised in England, but fought in the civil war. A Watson BEWLEY appears on the census of Bucks County after the war. Any tips on how to locate more information about this BEWLEY would be gratefully appreciated. Best wishes, Lynne David Eyre wrote: > The Spruance Library has nearly all the wills on microfilm, at least up into > the 1800's. I found it cheaper to hire a local researcher to go get me the wills I needed and pay her to do that for me, then to order directly from the courthouse in Bucks county. With the increase in volume of genealogical requests most courts are not doing the research without a high fee. They simply dont have the time to do this research. Here in OH our "man" who did all of this in Clinton county recently died. Our Historical and Gen Society is now trying to work out a plan to do the research for the requests coming into the courthouse. We were really spoiled as this person had done this for years as a service to others. SEA ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Last year they charged me a $20 fee, plus $1 a page. The fee was instituted to get us to stop asking for wills. The fairly terse note I got along with the wills what that "almost all of these were available through any LDS family history center". When I had asked, all I sent was a nice letter with the name, year, book number and page number so they could go directly to it. They won't search for a particular name, which does seem right to me. We should be able to provide the basic information. If you need to go this route, get your wallet out, it gets costly.
