    1. [PABUCKS-L] Flores in Springfield
    2. I am trying to establish the place of birth of my 5 great grandfather Michael FLORES who arrived in Phila. on the Friendship on 3 Sept 1739. Michael settled in Milford, (Bucks>Northampton>now Lehigh Co.) With him on the ship was one Conrad FLORES, possibly his father, who settled in Springfield Twp. Bucks Co. and is listed among the first settlers there. I have no more trace of him. If anyone sees any reference to a FLORES in Bucks Co., I will be eternally grateful for the lead. Ronald C. Flores Sr. rcfgunkle@att.net.

    3. Posted on: Bucks Co. Pa Query Form Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Pa/Bucks/14776 Surname: Brown, Wright ------------------------- I just found out that the name of the wife of George Brown, a principal landowner on the Delaware River in Bucks Co., 1679 was Mercy Wright. She was born about 1658 in Leicestershire England. She and George came to the colonies in 1679 and were married upon their arrival at New Castle (not the city currently in the NW part of PA). He had purchased a large plot of land from Sir Edmund Andros, the Duke of York. Turns out that that land was located next door to land owned by William Penn. My question: was it common in the later part of the 17th century, early part of the 18th century for parents to name more than one child with the same Christian name? It appears that George had Mercy had three Samuels and two Johns. The first John (b 1681) was probably more commonly known as J. Elias Brown. I'm wondering if the first two Samuels died in infancy? I do know that only 8 of the Brown Children survived to adulthood. If anyone knows about the practice of naming children during this time, please e-mail to fspuhler@juno.com
