    1. [PABUCKS-L] Taylors of Falls
    2. Thanks, Ray! I'm trying to track a Taylor family, some members of which made their way out to CA in the early 1900s. I have worked my way back to a Joseph B. Taylor who supposedly married a Martha B. Brown 8 Oct 1849 in Falls. (This from IGI.) I have some difficulty with this, because their son Benjamin Henry Taylor has a death certificate in CA, which names his mother Martha Woolston (of Bucks Co.), not Martha Brown. However, the IGI also gives birthdates for the four children of Joseph and Martha, which agree well with the estimates given in the 1880 census of Falls TWP. In the case of Benjamin, there is perfect agreement between the IGI birthdate and the birthdate on this death certificate. Joseph seems to be gone by 1880; I don't know whether he was deceased, or just away from home, but he wasn't with his family for the census. The IGI says that Joseph was born 16 Mar 1821 in Bucks Co., to Benjamin and Sarah Taylor. That's all I have, to date. We have quite a fabulous PA collection in the library of the CA Gen. Soc in Oakland (for which I work as a volunteer). I figure that, if I can get back about one more generation, I'll find lots more. Any of this ring a bell? Thanks again, Rick Sherman Kensington, CA

    3. Ray: Your Joseph Taylor and wife Martha Brown were Quakers (Society of Friends) and members of the Falls Monthly Meeting in Bucks Co. See _Encyclopedia of American Quaker Genealogy_ Vol. II by William W. Hinshaw. His six volumes are available in most genealogy libraries and on microfiche in every LDS Family History Center. If your library does not have these books, I'm certain Sutro does. TAYLOR: Joseph B., s Benjamin & Sarah, b. 3-16-1821 d 12-18-1876, buried Fallsington [He died before the 1880 census which explains his omission] m Martha B. BROWN, dt Thomas and Martha (BYE), b. 9-9-1819, d 10-23-1882, buried Fallsington Ch: Sophia b. 2-12-1851 Annie B. b. 10-6-1855 Lucy b. 4-18-1858 d. 2-27-1901, buried Fallsington Benjamin H. b. 4-14-1861 Sarah B. b. 10-13-1863 I don't find mention of this Joseph and Martha in the marriage records of Bucks MM so they must have married elsewhere. There is no record of their parents having been members of this meeting either. The latest TAYLOR entry is dated 1823 so I cannot tell you who the children married or if they moved on to a different meeting at a later date. -=CHESKA=- Q-R List Manager -- -=CHESKA=- E-mail address: cheska@ix.netcom.com Web site: <http://www.geocities.com/cwheatley2000/> Sponsor: ANDIS, BADGLEY, CLAYTON, COOPER, & MILLS surname lists List Manager: QUAKER-ROOTS discussion list RootsWeb: Dedicated to Keeping Access to Online Genealogy Free
