I realize your request was in 1998 for Jacob's parents. But just in case you are still searching his parents were John Holder Jr. b. 7/22/1725 and Rebecca Kuster (Custer) b. abt. 1734. Birth date for Jacob, according to my data, indicates 8/15/1752. Jacob is my gggg grandfather. I was raised in NB, Canada but have resided in US for many years. Saw Jacob's gravesite last year in Holderville, NB. Bill

Dear Linda, Sorry, I'm not a descendant of Benjamin & Amy Roberts, but I am a descendant of Benjamin's youngest brother John Roberts and his wife Nancy Updegrave. I have been researching all members of the Solebury twp. Roberts family, starting with Henry Roberts and his wife Mary Paxson. Their son William Roberts married Grace Hambleton and became the parents of your Benjamin and my John. Frankly, I have been stumped on a number of the lines, and I was very interested to see your posting. I assume that you are a descendant of Benjamin & Amy yourself, and I suppose that the information you posted about their children was taken from Bible records (or some similar family source). Let me show you what I found, because I may have information to complement your own, and because in a couple of cases, my information is slightly different: I have his wife's name as Mary, and a I have assumed a different death date for Benjamin. BENJAMIN ROBERTS, b. ca. 1760-4; d. 17 Apr 1828 m. 11 Feb 1794 Mary Vickers In the 7 August 1782 issue of the Pennsylvania Gazette, we find that Benjamin Roberts of Soleberry twp. gave notice that he had given a note for nine pounds to Joseph Cain, in exchange for a horse that had been stolen, and which had been subsequently taken from him; Benjamin thus served notice that he did not intend to pay the note to Cain or anyone else. Benjamin was married to Mary Vickers by John Wilson Esq. of Buckingham. Among the witnesses to the marriage were Henry Roberts (undoubted Benjamin's brother), John Pearson, Crispin Pearson, Jonathan Pearson, Jonathan White, David Forst, Sarah Forst, John Wilson, Joshua Beans, and 5 others. Benjamin bought land in Buckingham twp. from Samuel and Huldah Gilbert, and from Thomas and Esther Walton. He was convicted of debt, and sold the land on 29 May 1820 and 3 June 1820 (Bucks Co. Deed Book 48:86, 88). On 8 March 1826 he and his wife Mary sold land in Buckingham twp. again to Charles H. Roberts, cordwainer. The deed (Bucks Co. Deed Book 51:557) indicates that Benjamin was a blacksmith and had owned the land "for as many as 23 years past"; witnesses to the deed were Wm. Bailey and Jonathan C. Roberts. Benjamin's death was noted in the Doylestown Democrat issue of 29 April 1828, which said that he was of Buckingham, aged about 64 yrs. My only record of his children was taken from the 1807-8 lists of poor children to be educated at public expense: Benjamin's school-age children were given then as Joseph, Barzilia, Lettice, Zilpah. So I was very glad to see your complete listing of his children! By the way, Barzilia's death in 1812 was the subject of a coroner's inquiry. So what further information do you have? In particular, you say that Benjamin was buried in "Frankfort". I assume that this is Frankford, a section of northeast Philadelphia. Did he live in Frankford when he died? Does the death notice I quoted not refer to our Benjamin Roberts after all? Can you confirm that this family did live most of their lives in the Buckingham or Solebury area? >From the list of children, I suppose that there could only be descendants from Letitia, Zilpah, Hiram, Elizabeth, or Pauline. Actually, I think there might also be descendants from the oldest child Joseph (he was still living in 1808 at the time of the poor children list so probably did not die in 1797). Do you know if any of these children married, and to whom? Where did they live? And what more do you know of Peter & Ann Vickers' family? Sorry to ask so many questions, but I am happy to share what information I have collected, and would like to be able to piece these families together as best we can. I would be grateful if you had any comments, reactions, or further information. Jim
Try checking in Williams or Defiance County, Ohio. I have a Enos Yeagley who married Delilah Benner in Williams County. I think there was a Conrad Benner on the 1850 in Williams Co.....the name sounds familiar. There was also Samuel Benner and Bartholomew or Solomon Yeagley.
Amos Clauson Reed, born 1737 England, died 7 Jan 1834 Belmont County, Ohio. married Gemima Kennard, born 1746 Bucks County, Pennsylvania, died 12 Feb 1840 Belmont County, Ohio. Children: John, Jane, Gemima, and Rachel. Most of the cousins I have found are looking for Amos' parents in New Jersey, where he joined the colonial army; however, according to Amos and Gemima's grandson, Moses John Reed, Amos came over as a british soldier, at the beginning of the Revolutionary War, deserted upon arriving at Boston Harbor. Records show he joined the Colonial Army, on the NJ line in 1776. According to what few records I could find, Amos had worked as a shoemaker for his then future brother-in-law John Kennard, for three years before joining the colonial army, which would estimate his arrival in Boston Harbor around 1773. Gemima, was the daughter of James Kennard and Alice Jolly. Some sources state that Alice was the daugter of James Jolly and Letitia Nelson. Other sources say Letitia Nelson only had one husband, and it wasn't James Jolly; however, according to my cousin, my paternal grandmother only had one husband also, and it wasn't my grandfather. Looking for information and confirmation on Amos Clauson Reed and Gemima Kennard. While I do know the Kennards were Dutch, i know little else about them. Though I have quite a lot about the descendents of Amos and Gemima.
I'm searching for information on the following family and would like to search the newspapers as well as other records. Does anyone know the name of the local Bristol newspaper for 1907-20? I can't find any newspaperfor Bristol listed in the reference books. HANEY, George V/B and wife Nettie (Anita?Annetta?) m 15 June 1907 Bristol, Bucks Co PA HANEY, George W.(prob William) b 1909 Bristol Bucks Co PA HANEY, Rose HANEY, Annetta b ca 1907 Bristol Bucks Co PA The George Haney family was in Bristol until at least the 1920 census. However, only the one son, George W. is ever listed with them in census records and yet I have a photo that appears to have been taken ca 1914-1918 which seems to include 2 sons, one about 5 and the other 8-10. I'd like to search for obits and birth records in the newspaper. George B/V was a son of William Haney and wife Catherine, grandson of Nicholas Heaney. I would be interested in looking for obits for these older relations as well. Also, all of the photos I have of this family were taken by Schafer's in Bristol....anyone know when this company was in business? Some seem to date from 1905 and some seem as late as 1920. However, that's guessing based on the approximate age of the people in the photo, not on any date written on them. Nancie
Joseph WATSON (1813-1899) m. Mary Ann SELLERS (1816-1882) Mary Ann was b. in Lebanon Co, and the Watsons moved to Centre Co and later to Clearfield Co, PA. Mary Ann's parents were Joseph and Mary Ann (CLEAVER) SELLERS. Joseph WATSON's heritage is unknown, but I'm suspecting Bucks County as a possibility. Any suggestions appreciated. Judy

Possible II. John Bailey (Baily), a carpenter, b. about 1799 m _________. On 1850 Middletown Census with children 1. John, age 15, b. about 1835 2. Elizabeth, age 27, b. about 1823 3. William R. and Maggie Bailey, and at least children Thomas Barclay and Theodora Bailey moved to Washington, DC some time befoe 1906. I have the church program from the First Baptist Church, Bristol, PA 50th anniversary in 1898 and someone wrote in the margin that Rev. J. H. Kennard "married father and mother in 1858." Could be the marriage of either Thomas Barclay Bailey and Cynthia or the marriage of Theodore Crouthers and Mary Ann. Can anyone help with this family? Thanks for your time! Amanda Cook, Macon, GA PS I have a picture of a small older woman wearing a high necked black dress. I think that it might be Cynthia, the wife of Thomas Barclay Bailey. It was taken in Bristol, PA. Looks to be in the mid to late 1800s. I also have pictures of William R. Bailey if any descendants are reading this, I'd be glad to send copies.
Couldn't help but notice your posting on the message board. I am trying to find the ancestors of John Robert Tomlinson (b. 2/5/1808) and his brother Henry (b. 6/12/1810), both born in PA and later migrated to Lawrence Co., IN. In addition, one of John R.'s daughters married a George W. Worthington (b. ca 1855) in Lawrence Co., IN. Since there is a conincidence of both names, I was wondering if you perchance might have any further information on the above Tomlinson's. Thanks. Bill Derrer
