It could have been spelled with one of the other spellings, but I know for a fact that my grandfather, Thomas Paxson, Jr., spelled Paxson with the "xs." He was a politician here in Putnam County, Illinois and also ran a hotel, "The Paxson House." Greatgrandpa had ten children. I think what happened was that he was born in Loudoun Co. and then moved to Ohio when he was very young. He has been so hard to find that I am beginning to think he was a horsethief or something even worse. Thanks for the help. Mary Alice

The only information I have about Warren Co., OH is that my greatgrandfather married his first wife there. Greatgrandpa was born, I think, in 1801, in Loudoun Co., VA. This information came from my grandfather who told my father about it. Maybe he was wrong because I have been checking for what seems like forever. We are actually thinking of going to Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia to check the records ourselves. Thank you so much for responding. Mary Alice Paxson Morris
