Thanks Sharon Smith : I have seen the date reference for the Durham Iron Company on that website before but it only seems to have the dates. The Durham Iron Company actually mined the ore from the hillside near the 611-212 intersection. They forged the crude "pigs" from the Blast furnace at forges along the Muskinetcong NJ as well as several forges near the furnace along Cooks Creek PA . The barges took the "pigs" across the Delaware River mostly to the RR on the NJ side or, before the RR, down the river in "Durham Boats" to Bristol and Philadelphia. Again this holiday season, Family Tree DNA has made available, to the Van Horne yDNA Project, four gift certificates for yDNA [men] testing, and two gift certificates for mtDNA [women] testing The gift certificates will be made available on a first come first serve basis to anyone with the Van Horn / Van Horne surname. They may be applied to the cost of testing, for anyone, who registers, to be tested, for the first time, through 31 December 2006 The project currently has six participants, one a descendant of Christian Barentsen, four descendants of Matthys Cornelissen and one whose ancestor is not yet determined. It is the project objective to identify the genetic lines of the three immigrants to New Netherlands whose descendants took the Van Horn / Van Horne surname, Jan Cornelissen, Christian Barentsen and Matthys Cornelissen. According to George Olin Zabriskie’s articles in TAG, Jan Cornelissen had two sons, Cornelius Jansen and Joris Jansen, and Christian Barentsen had three sons, Barent Christiansen, Cornelis Christiansen and Johannes Christansen. You MUST be a male in direct line of male descent from your Van Horn / Van Horne ancestor. We would very much like to have descendants of these five men participate in the project, however, all men with this surname are welcome to participate. The two gift certificates for mtDNA testing are available to any woman whose maiden name is Van Horn / Van Horne. If you are interested, please write to me personally at [email protected] In the interest of not causing a ruckus on a mail list or message board, I WILL NOT respond to messages posted there. Happy Holidays, Marleen Van Horne Van Horne yDNA Project Manager
Hello All, First I have scanned and uploaded another 20 pages of the book "Plymouth Meeting". This is an excellent resource for those who had Quaker ancestors in Montgomery Co. - I have found much info on my Jeanes family in this book. Second, Barbara Ann Reeder was kind enough to share pictures she took of Solebury Friends Meeting House and Cemetery in Bucks Co. and I have placed those on my site as well. If anyone knows of a burial listing for Solebury please let me know as I know I had Eastburn family there. Both of these things are on my site at http://www.quakerrecords.com Alan RESEARCHING: Buckingham, Gilpin, Eastburn, Jeanes, Nowland, Wade, Creswell, Vansant and related families -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Nancy, you are a sweet person I am related to Paxson as well thank you for putting such on here i like to find a copy or have the ISBN number of that copy so I might be able to purchase a copy myself. I can be reached at [email protected]_ (mailto:[email protected]) always willing to chat with kin. Billie Keaffaber
I have a copy of Eastburn Reeders Early Settlers of Solebury Township, 2nd edition 1971. So, it would not be copyright free and can't be put on the web. There is extensive Paxson history through out the book so it isn't just one chapter. Henry Paxson, by his will, dated 4 mo 23, 1723 made his son-in-lawJohn Plumley, and his nephew, William Paxson, his executors, who deeded the same to Henry Paxson, Jr.,6 mo. 2, 1724. Henry Paxson, Jr., two sons Isaac and Mahlon Paxson Mahlon Paxson was the father of Asher Paxson who was the father of Grace, Sarah, John, Howard H. and Hugh P. Paxson. Page 28 Nancy
Hi Maureen - My Benjamin was born @1730s, so yours and mine aren't the same. :) He had a son Benjamin, too, but that's not him, either. Both of them stayed in PA. Thanks ! Lynn
