    1. Re: [PABUCKS] Yardley's
    2. That will be fine. I'll be around anytime before 7 tomorrow night. During the day is fine. I don't have any West Virginia info. I know several families of the early Bucks Co settlers, e.g., Janney moved to Loudoun Co. VA...Leesburg the County seat, which abuts West VA. My Yardley name is from about 1800 when a James White married a Hannah Yardley. They moved to Ohio, Champaign and Miami Counties about 1830. She had a brother Samuel who remained in Bucks County. She had a twin sister as I recall who married a Leedom. Believe they also moved to Ohio. I can't remember what county of Virginia included what is now West Virginia. Would have to find my "Red Book" to sort that out, but I imagine you have done that. Where in West Virginia do you think your line moved? Mike Daley

    1. Re: [PABUCKS] Family of Henry & Mary (Paxson) Roberts of Solebury, Warner P. ...
    2. Jim, Your Peters connection to Paxson is very close. Now my Rachel Pownall, who married John Peters had a close connection to Paxson's as well that Thelma had mentioned...Rachel's Grandfather George Pownall had a sister, Abigail who married a William Paxson. Did you ever determine where exactly your Peters lived in comparison to Peters Corner in Solebury, Bucks County, PA? I have not verified that my John Peters lived at Peters corner, but my Peters lived in Bucks County, Pa as of 1779 and in 1790 Census there is a John Peters living next to Charles Reeder. Hence, I would be making a jump that he lived at the approximate location of Peters Corners. Also, I found this at: _http://www.rootsweb.com/~pabucks/removalsandchanges2.html_ (http://www.rootsweb.com/~pabucks/removalsandchanges2.html) SOLEBURY 16. The Bradshaw sisters to their lot at Peters' Corner, recently purchased of 24. Joel Barton from Merrick Reeder's house to Peters' Corner. Hope we can help each other. John Peters In a message dated 1/7/2007 4:16:41 PM Eastern Standard Time, [email protected] writes: Bobbyjo, If there was another daughter Elizabeth Roberts, daughter of Henry & Mary (Paxson) Roberts, I have found no record of her. There is no such daughter mentioned in either of the wills of father Henry (dat. 1761) nor of mother Mary (dat. 1785). (Both wills agree on the seven children I listed in my earlier message.) Who is this Elizabeth that you are speaking of? Be careful, because there were several Roberts families in Bucks Co. who were not all related. Your Elizabeth Roberts might belong to a different Roberts family. For example, there were other Robertses in the Quakertown area, in the Gwynedd area, in the New Britain area, in the Lower Makefield/Bristol area, in the Abington area, in the Lower Dublin area of Phila., etc., and none of them were related to the Solebury Roberts family, as far as I can tell. 1. Re: [PABUCKS] Yardley's
    2. KAREN KOENEKER
    3. Thanks Mike, I need to look at my notes again and then give you a call. I have been researching the Yardley's for years (my mother is a Yardley) and have seen several books which deal with the Bucks Co. Yardley's. What I haven't seen are what happened to some of the Bucks Co. Yardley's around 1770 which is where I have my Yardley traced back to(in an area now in West Virginia). If I'm able to get my notes together, I'll try to give you a call on Thursday if that would be o.k. Karen [email protected] wrote: Yes, I have researched the Yardleys and there is a lot of research that has been done.. There are two distinct lines from Bucks County early settlers. One is the one the town of Yardley, PA is named for. These came with Wm. Penn. Some references state that this was the only line. As I recall, Davis in his book may so state. Not so. There are also descendants from a Richard Yardley. It is presumed that the two lines joined in England, although not proven as far as I know. We do think we know the names of the brothers from which they descended. I am descended from Richard. I am not much on typing, and the records are vast. If you would call me toll free at 888-825-7744 I could get you started in the right direction. That is tell you about printed materials (there is a book on the Yardleys) , the Spruance Library in Doylestown, PA; the Lower Makefield Historical Society, etc.etc. I've interacted with various people on this line over the years, although my memory is a little stale. 3. Hi Linda, The Pursell private burial ground is located in Bridgeton Twp. It is on the west side of the pubic rd along the Delaware River, about 6/10ths of a mile south of the Milford bridge. It is behind and between some residences. My ggggGrandfather John Moore was buried there in 1807. I'm not sure who is responsible for caretaking, but it is still there....surrounded by a brick wall with stone coping. Part of the wall is falling down in disrepair! Some of the graves have recently sunk. There is an interesting story about the graveyard. I'll find it....very interesting! I've been told that it was originally part of the Pursell homestead. I'd love to know more...so I thought maybe I'd get a little help in this forum....Thanks, Susan ----- Original Message ----- From: "Linda Huff Muessig" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, January 08, 2007 7:08 PM Subject: Re: [PABUCKS] Pursell, Williams, Goddard, Moore > Pursell burial ground? 1. [PABUCKS] James Johnson, Bristol, 1778-1863
    2. I am researching James JOHNSON (1778-1863), a merchant who lived in Bristol, Bucks Co, PA at least from the early 1830's until he left to live with his daughter (Mary Ann JOHNSON SEAL of Camden, NJ) in the late 1850's. Tombstone inscriptions from the churchyard of St James Episcopal in Bristol suggest that he was married twice: first to a Margaret (???) abt 1800, and second to a Mary Ann GLENN abt 1824. Is anyone on this list researching the Bristol Johnson's in this timeframe? I will gladly share the information I have gathered in this search. Here are the tombstone inscriptions from James Johnson's plot at St James. >From Collections of the Genealogical Society of Pennsylvania. Gravestone Inscriptions, St James P. E. Church, Bristol, Bucks Co., Pa. 1. D-314 Johnson, James Sr. James Johnson Sr., Born August 20”, 1778. Died December 29”, 1863. All the days of my appointed time will I wait till my change comes. (James Johnson was a merchant and a Burgess of Bristol, 1831-1833) 2. D-314 Johnson, James O. A. James O. A. Johnson, Born May 13”, 1840. Died October 15”, 1867. And there shall be no more death, Mother, Neither shall there be any more pain, ‘fore the former things are passed away. (James O. Andrews Johnson, probably the son of James Johnson, Sr. and second wife, Mary Ann Glenn) 3. I-314 Johnson, Edward Franklin Also Edward Franklin Johnson, son of James and Margaret Johnson, who departed this life September 11”, A.D. 1823 in the 3” year of his age. Why do we mourn for parting friends, Or shake at death’s alarms, “Tis but the voice that Jesus sends, To call them to his arms. (Edward Franklin Johnson might be the son of James and Margaret Johnson) 4. I-314 Johnson, Edward S. Edward S. Johnson. Born September 8”, 1826. Died July 16”, 1900. (The son of James and second wife Mary Ann, this Edward later lived with his sister, Mary Ann Johnson Seal and her husband Lewis Seal [C50].) 5. I-314 Johnson, Margaret In memory of Margaret Johnson, wife of James Johnson, who departed this life September 25, A.D. 1823. Aged 41 years. (James Johnson’s first wife and mother to William Philander Chase Johnson (1806-1852), Ann Eliza Johnson (1815-1847), and the aforementioned Edward Franklin Johnson. 6. I-314 Johnson, Mary Ann Mary Ann, wife of James Johnson, Sr. Born April 20”, 1799. Died August 4, 1866. I will come again and receive you unto myself, that where I am, there ye may be also. (Mary Ann Glenn, James’ second wife.) Thanks for such a great mailing list! Steve Balcom

    1. Re: [PABUCKS] Yardley's
    2. Yes, I have researched the Yardleys and there is a lot of research that has been done.. Mike Daley Carlisle, PA.

    3. Do we have anybody researching the Yardley surname out there? I am descended from a group of Yardley's in the midwest and we think we connect with the Bucks Co. group but it's not been proven yet. Karen

    1. Re: [PABUCKS] Family of Henry & Mary (Paxson) Roberts of Solebury, Warner P. ...
    2. Jim Roberts
    3. Bobbyjo, If there was another daughter Elizabeth Roberts, daughter of Henry & Mary (Paxson) Roberts, I have found no record of her.
