    3. Dear Dennis, Thank you so much for your advice and searching. I was also unable to find Charles in the 1850 census, but was able to find the family in later censuses. I never checked the 1840 census for Mary A. & mother---thank you for giving me that information. I had hoped to find an original marriage record to obtain more information on this couple. Mary A. died June 12, 1905. This date was obtained from her obituary in the Trenton Times. She was living in Bristol, PA at the time of her death, but the Bucks County Courthouse was unable to find a death record for her. I also do not know the date of death for Charles- he apparently died bet 1880-1900 as Mary A. is a widow in the 1900 census. Hope to someday come up with more information. Thank you so much for your help. This will not be effective, as marriage licenses started 1 Oct 1885, and the query time predates the licensing. Other was church records. This is valid. What also could be considered, and this volume is known to be at the Bucks Co Hist Soc Spruance Library, is an index to marriages that were publicized in the newspaper - I believe the Doylestown Intelligencer. This may give the date and place, but tends not to have parental info. I might assume that you already tried to beat the census records to death, for what they can reveal, but perhaps not. Here's what I found. 1850: Tried both names. Found Mary Ann McClain 21 in New Hope Bor with Perthena? 66; Catharine 30. All born NJ. 1860: Could get Charles to work. Tried Mary Buck == hit for Henry Buck 30; Mary A 31 New Hope Bor - both born PA (normal errors) and 2 children. 1870: Now we have Charles H. Buck 44; Mary Ann 41 - he born DE, she NJ plus 5 children. Backtracked: 1840: Parthena McClain in New Hope Bor -- 1 F 10-14; 1 F 20-29; I F 40-49. So, we can conclude that her mom is named Parthena. 1830: Nothing conclusive 1850: Couldn't find anything conclusive for a Charles or Henry in PA, NJ or DE 1880: Back to Henry again, with Mary, a bunch of kids and a grandkid and a mother Ann - 80. So, we can conclude that his mom is named Ann. Suggest that your next steps include finding the deaths of the moms, and seeing if dads are buried with. 3. Does anyone have more information on possible descendants of James Harrison who came very early to Bucks Co. I am specifically looking for any connection to Hannah Harrison who was born around 1746. She was married to Jacob Weaver of Tinicum, Bucks, but her line is a dead end. The only other possible connection to her is an Elias Harrison who may have been a brother. This is one of my brick walls. Any help gratefully appreciated! 1. [PABUCKS] Looking for Jonathan Doan
    2. I am very new to this Bucks County website. So far I have checked the archives without luck. My grandmother's grandfather was Jonathan Doan. The only information I have is from a letter written by my grandmother's sister who wrote his name and wedding date 11 Sep 1837. He married Elizabeth (Eliza) Young Smith, who apparently was married before and had children by her first husband (? Smith). Jonathan and Eliza had one child together Samuel Young Doan, my grandmother's father. Jonathan must have died or disappeared somehow because it looks like Eliza remarried again to Steven Kirkner. The Smith children, Samuel and a Kirkner child appear in later records with Eliza. It looks like they lived in Montgomery County. Any information on Jonathan Doan would be appreciated. I figured maybe someone in Bucks County might have some information. Thanks! Since the Doans came from Bucks County

    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Carrie S. KULP of Pleasant Valley, Bucks Co., Pennsylvania. The photograph was taken at the Snyder Studio in Kutztown, PA probably sometime in the 1890's when Carrie was in her teens. Based on limited research I believe that this is a photograph of Carrie KULP b. 14 Nov 1878 in Bucks County, PA to parents Abraham M. KULP and Elmira B. SLIFER. I was able to locate the family in the 1900 census of Springfield, PA as follows: Abraham M. KULP, age 62, born May 1838, married 38 years, born PA, parents born PA, a Farmer Elamina B. KULP, wife, age 60, born Jan 1839, married 38 years, 8 children/8 living, born PA, parents born PA Mary A. KULP, dau, age 35, born Aug 1864, born PA, a Tailoress Carrie S. KULP, dau, age 21, born Nov 1878, born PA, a School Teacher I am hoping to locate someone from this family so that this beautiful old photograph can be returned to its rightful place with family. If you are a member of this family, or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

    3. Jean, There are no marriage records per se for that time period except for church records. If you know what church they went to or what denomination they belonged you might find a record that way. Quakers kept the most extensive records. Also if you know where they lived you might check the records for that community. People usually attended a church near enough that they could walk or ride horseback. Lots of luck.
