1. [TriCounty] Tri-County Site additions - Wed. 8 AM
2. Hi All, I have added several new flagholder pages to the Flagholder section of the site. I also added some insignias to the Methodist Church flagholder page and the State Police flagholder page. You can reach the flagholder section fromthe front page of Tri-Counties Genealogy & History Sites of Joyce M. Tice What I found in the area of Canada (New Brunswick) that I visited, is that flagholders are RARE. Instead organizational and military insignia are engraved on the tombstone. Unfortunately my photo day there was COLD, rainy and dark and most of the tombstones are black granite. This combination set the flash off and that made it worse because it created glare. Anyway, I did collect quite a few insignia that will be showing up on the site. Also, I'd appreciate it very much if any of the Canadian members of our Tri-County Site's mail list cold tell me if this is typical in the other provinces of Canada. Are flagholders common elsewhere? Or is it true that throughout Canada, the engraved insignias are used instead. Yesterday I had an odd experience. I stopped in a very large cemetery in Syracuse near the client I was seeing. It was really huge, but although I did not cover the whole cemetery I found about seven flagholders. They really were not common at all. I have had this experience before, but the odd thing was that of the seven or so, three were flagholders I never saw before. Now that is ODD. You can just never predict what you are going to find in a cemetery. I often go by one and say it is not worth going in to and then find something absolutely brand new. There's jus no guessing.
