Tice</A> I very much regret that information about Family Discovery has reached you through the Tri-County mail list. This is pretty much a scam from what I have heard. I would not recommend it or any other organization of its type. If this is the one I have heard about, they are indexing all the work that the many of us have put up at our own time and expense and made free for all of you. They, of course, are charging you to see what we have already given you as a gift. They are in no way reimbursing those of us who have incurred the expense. This is a very bad thing. If you really insist on paying for what is free, then please send donations to Rootsweb from which I purchase space at less cost than I could any other place, or consider chipping in on some of the expenses of those who are providing you these free resources. There are many persons who have created entire websites with no new or original content at all, but merely links to sites such as my own where the real resources are. If they are not charging you to use them, then they are really just finding a way to create a website without having to do any of the real work. In the case, however, of those who create a web site to resources provided as a service to the genealogical community at the expense of people like myself, and then charge you to use it. Well, I really don't know what to say that is fit to print. The information that has passed through the mail lists for site providers like myself indicates that is the case with Family Discovery.com.
