Quote Area is gold mine for those seeking history of their ancestors EDITOR: I wholeheartedly agree with Jean Dubert Everingham's Aug. 25 comments regarding the very friendly and cooperative atmosphere created by the knowledgeable employees and volunteers at the Bradford County Historical Society and the Bradford County Courthouse, while doing genealogical research. Hopefully most genealogy related visits result in good, positive feelings associated with having found some new genealogical information. Conversely, if nothing new is found, it still can be a memorable and positive experience due to the friendly, cooperative environment created by the employees and volunteers working at these locations. I have an additional comment which is not meant to detract from any of the previous complimentary remarks. Another are where Bradford, Tioga and Chemung counties currently excel on a national level, and yes even on a global basis, is with the outstanding genealogical and historical Internet website for our area hosted by Joyce M. Tice beginning with an index page at http://www. rootsweb.com/~srgp/jmtindex.htm. Joyce, along with volunteers from all over the United States, has transcribed a multitude of local county historical, census, cemetery, etc. records, thereby creating one of the premier county genealogical websites. However, even if you are not interested in your ancestors, or anything associated with genealogy and area history, please take some time to view the multitude of outstanding colored photos of typical scenes, flowers, foliage, old post cards, etc. from the Bradford, Tioga and Chemung counties areas that Joyce has posted on each individual web page at this website. You will more than likely be amazed at the vivid color and beauty from our own back yard, which has been posted for all the world to see. If perhaps you do not have a personal computer, you should be able to view the individual pages at this website on a computer at your local puclic library.
