I know that St. Peter and Paul's Church had a convent. They were, if I remember correctly, the Sister's of St. Joseph (a teaching order, since St. Peter and Paul's had a school). I don't live in Elmira now, and can't remember exactly which street they were on, but the Church was across the street from St. Joseph's hospital. The Flood of 1972 destroyed the church rectory, and the priests moved into what used to be the convent. (the school closed in the 70's I think, and was being used at one time by human service agencies like head start. I don't know what's in there now, since I don't live in Elmira anymore.
