We have some will-related documents for John Hill of Cayuta in Chemung County. They are dated 1849 to 1851, and refer to his daughter, " Deborah Flanders, who resides near the lead mines ". Can anyone help us determine where these "lead mines" might have been at that time ? Chemung County? Another nearby county?
