Hi Everyone, I have a letter from a lady wanting info about a one-room schoolhouse between Smithfield and Ulster, and who the teacher might have been in the late 1920's. I have come up with two possibilities. I'm going to give you the info that I have found, and if anyone can add to my information please let me know because I am going to write to this lady in the next couple of days. There was one on the corner of Bluebird Road and Ulster Road, but I have been unable to find out the name of this school. There is a good possibility that the teacher at this school was a Miss Thomas (source: Barbara Decker). The other school that I came up with was on the corner of the Saco Road and the Ulster Road. It was called Riggs School, and the teacher at this school was a Miss Florence Eiffert during the late 1920's (source Eunice Eiffert Nichols, sister of Florence).
