Perhaps some gracious expert on Athens, Bradford Co., PA and on Bradford County, PA Real Estate records can provide some guidance that will help me in my research on my Rice lineage. It is recorded that Prince Bryant was among the first settlers in the Athens/Ulster areas of Athens, PA (also called Milltown). It is also recorded that Prince Brant was the builder of a grain mill and damn on Cayuta Creek in Milltown just south of the present Pennsylvania - New York state lines. Subseqeuently, John Shephard obtained and operated the facility and in about 1817 conveyed the mill and dam to Wanton Rice. Wanton continued to be recorded as living in Athens through the 1830 census. I have a copy of the deed recording Wanton"s purchase of the dam and mill but have not found any record of the conveyance of the ownership of the mill and dam to his children or to anyone else. Is it likely that Bradford County land records would have a continuing chain of title in it's records somewhere showing the conveyance of the grain and mill to another party of record? Where in County land records would such information be most likely to be found, assuming the conveyance would have occurred in th 1820' to 1830's? Many thanks!
