    3. Good morning Mike, I do not know your location but in this area the Southern Tier of New York and the Northern Tier of PA census records can be found at Steele Library in Elmira, at the county Clerks office in the county seats in New York. There is a Family History Center in Horseheads that has had some census when I searched there in the past. In PA some of the Libraries like Green Free Library in Wellsboro has the Tioga County Census, The Historical society in Potter County has the census for that county. Each of these areas have other records other than census. In PA you will find the early birth and death records until 1905. You will find marriage records from 1885 to the present. In PA you have the tax records. In both states you have deed and wills, and probates. In my book nothing beats going to the area. I am presently working on on of my families in the Hector area in Schuyler county. I have looked for a set of Church records for over 20 years. On that day I knocked on a door. A friendly woman invited me and said this was the old parsonage, She let me use her phone to call people that she knew for involved with the church. By the time I had returned home one had returned my call and our husband had spent hours talking about their hobbies, old cars and tractors. She called me a few days later and told me she had all of the church records plus copies of all the census for the e area. She looked up names . I told her how some fit in and we are to get together and work. I am working on the next generation back in Cortland county. I have made several trips there this summer and made some progress. I spent last Friday on the phone running records and people down. I have not added new generation this year but have file din alot of gaps.
