We just worked on the application yesterday to nominate it as one of the most "Distinctive Places in America." Twelve get nominated each year in the United States. It is the heart of Finger Lakes Wine Country on the east side of Seneca Lake near Watkins Glen with some excellent restaurants for a rural area. If you want a unique place to visit I highly recommend it and be sure to check out Skyland Farm besides the wineries. It has such close ties to the Tri-County area because a large number of settlers left Hector and settled in northwestern Bradford County in Wells Township and neighboring Jackson Township in Tioga County.
