    3. My grandmother died many years before I was born. I have always thought her name was Katherine Fuller. But many of the records I find have her name as Tuller. Even in her own signature as a child in a Sunday School Bible it is impossible to tell whether it is an "F" or a "T". I have been told that Fuller was not her father's name, but that she was either adopted or an indentured servant and may have taken that as a last name. Out of eleven sources 5 give her name as Tuller, 3 as Fuller, and 3 are uncertain.Since most of the records are in a clerk's writing, how can I tell which name is right? To complicate that the records give her birthplace as Pa., NY, New York City, or Tioga Township. A man by the name of Philo Tuller, who I understand was a druggist in Tioga boro, has a wife named Harriet. In both the 1860 and 1870 census there is a female named Catherine that is the right age to be my grandmother. None of the biographical sketches of Philo Tuller mention any children. My grandparents named their first child Harriet. Is there a logical way to sort out the sources and make a decision? I'd like some opinions from the experts out there. Or does anyone have any knowledge of Philo Tuller's Catherine? Jane Webb
