    1. [Tri-Counties] state road in wysox - Claverack
    2. William Clark AUS
    3. Greetings: Am researching an ancestor, Samuel Clark, who had a contract for the "new state road" in 1808. He was mortally shot by a deer hunter while clearing brush in 1808. Says he lived in Claverack (Wysox?).. Does anyone know what road that might be ? Also, I am thinking that if he had a contract, I wonder if the "official" copy exists somewhere ?? Any leads very helpful. Bill Clark

    1. [Tri-Counties] State road explained
    2. William Clark AUS
    3. Greetings all: I have researched the "State Road" and found this explanation : History of Bradford County by H. C. Bradsby, 1891 Chapter XI - Roads The "State Road " passed through the county from northeast to south west. It was provided for by the Legislature in 1807; Henry Donnell and George Haines, commissioners. As provided for, it passes through Pike and Wysox townships crossing the river at Towanda, following up Sugar creek to East Troy, and on to Covington, in Tioga county. Cheers, Bill Clark ================================================= -----Original Message----- From: William Clark (AUS) [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Tuesday, August 27, 2002 12:57 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [Tri-Counties] state road in wysox - Claverack Greetings: Am researching an ancestor, Samuel Clark, who had a contract for the "new state road" in 1808.
