Maneval (which can be purchased at The Tioga County Historical Society, 120 Main St., Wellsboro, PA, 16901): 1768 The treaty at Fort Stanwix, NY, (now Rome, NY) gave southern New York State and northern Pennsylvania to the settlers on Nov. 5. 1772 Northumberland County was formed from lands of north central PA on March 21. In it, Tioga Twp was formed from lands joining NYS south to the present line between Tioga County and Lycoming County, March 21 and Lycoming Twp was formed from lands south of Tioga Twp to the Susquehanna River, March 21. 1795 Lycoming County was formed from lands of lycoming Twp, April 13. 1824 Jackson Twp, Lycoming County, was formed in March If the above is true then Liberty Boro was never in Lycoming County or the earlier Lycoming Twp.
